    Newbie from Grand Blanc

Hello everyone! My name is Charlie and I'm a newbie here. I was searching for opinions on the place for a modern battleship in the current U.S. Navy, and stumbled on this board. I had to sign up immediately, it is everything I've ever wanted in a discussion group!

I'm 21, married with two kids (4 mo. and 2.5 yr) and I am a Sophomore at Kettering University in Flint, MI majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am employed as an engineering intern at an R&D facility for GKN Driveline, and also as a customer service supervisor at Whole Foods Market in my hometown of Edgewater, MD when I am in that area.

I have always been interested in politics and been enamored with military tech/history since I was a little kid, probably because I grew so close to Annapolis, Fort Meade, Andrews AFB, D.C., etc. When I was in middle school I could identify nearly any military plane overhead, sometimes down to the letter variant if it was low enough. My plan is to graduate college then move back to the MD/VA/DC area and get a job in the defense industry. I wanted to attend the Naval Academy until my life direction changed (see wife and kids info ) I figure the next best thing is to help design the stuff our men and women in the armed forces use.

I enjoy scenario paintball (Tippman 98 and '04 Shocker), shooting (Stoeger Condor 20 Ga), soccer, automotive stuff (sold my ride), and all kinds of racing.

Well, that's me. I look forward to many discussions/arguments with all of you!
