Sister of Gulf War Veteran
Hi, I'm Trina - a web designer and graphics artist. What leads me to military boards? My Brother is My Hero, and I like to share this story:
My brother is a Gulf War Veteran - he was a spotter and rode in Black Hawk helicopters (excuse my ignorance, but he talks very little about his duties, etc). I have a story to tell about him. In Fall of1990, he went to the Gulf just after learning that his wife was pregnant. In early March of 1991, his wife developed complications with her pregnancy and struggled with pre-term labor. On March 16, through the efforts of the Red Cross and having been shot at while leaving the Gulf, he arrived at the airport where my parents, his daughter, and my son and I picked him up. I'll never forget watching him walk up the ramp into the area where we waited. He was still wearing his desert fatigues. His stride and posture was breath-taking. His little girl waited to greet him, until she could wait no longer and then ran out beyond our "limits" to her daddy's arms (I still cry when I tell the story). The crowd watched, then cheered as she reached her daddy - as security attempted to draw her up short. How many people walked up to him and shook his hand and told him "Thank You," I cannot say. From there to luggage pick up to the parking lot, people went out of their way to let him know that he was appreciated. The following day, his first son was born via c-section. Thank you Red Cross, thank you to those who held out their hearts and hands to a soldier of the US Army. Thanks also, from my heart, to Vietnam Veterans. This is the kind of reception you deserved - whether you received it or not. We love you and appreciate all you gave in obedience to your country.

Ah...(wiping my eyes)....that is a good story Trina, and thank you so much for sharing.
By the way. I have one of those "God Bless Our Troop" magnets on every vehicle I own. One day, my daughter noticed the magnet missing off of my truck, and demanded that we go (right then pronto!) to purchase another one! Of course, we did. Nearly every automobile in my town has one of those magnets.Welcome to the WAB forum Trina. ![]() |

hi Trina,
Welcome. Your story reminded me of my younger sister. I use to get the same kind of reception when I returned home on leave. After a week of bliss, the usual sibling quables started, she hated me for hitting on her girl friends . Miss those days, now that she is married and settled in the US.

Your support is so appreciated, I wish I could tell you how much. It's part of my 'psychological paycheck', and it's important to me.
You tell him "Thanks" for me, okay? And welcome to the Board.
