Help with Linguistics and Caste System

Hi there! I'm writing about the Indian Caste System. I was asked the by the professor to elaborate on linguistic differences in different castes can you help with this? Also, what are examples of linguistic divisions along the lines of caste distinction?

not being a spoilsport, thats a lot of information, India has a zillion castes and a zillion more languages. For eg, Tamil spoken by Iyers is different from that of the Tamil spoken by Iyengars, to complicate it, they both are Brahmins. Then we have 5-6 dominant castes in Tamilnadu each with their own slang. Majority of Indian states were formed based on linguistics and every state has more than one dominant castes.

Meena, I take it your Professor has given you a life time to write the Thesis. By the looks of it you may need more than one

Good grief, India has 932 language dialects alone, how those are further broken down.......I'm with Lukins, how long do you have to write this paper? Welcome by the way.

Pl. share what you learn with us.

I guess the language and castes don't have a very high correlation. Its more to do with the region you are staying in. People from the same castes staying in different regions generally speak the local language of that region and people of different castes and religions staying in a single region would speak the common language of that region.

Is there something I am missing here? Are you talking about language or the minor dailect variation within a major language that the different castes may have?
