[quote=ozjohn39;404152]glyn,

Penzance eh? My family history research has my line (ROWE) thick on the ground near Falmouth, the little village of Mylor Bridge actually.

Rowe is a good Cornish name, and Mylor Bridge is a most delightful spot. Unfortunately few Cornish people live there these days as the house prices have risen so high that a fairly modest dwelling costs around half a million £. This means city people buy them for holiday homes to use for a couple of weeks each year and then rent them out as holiday lets. It's an unfortunate paradox that we have the highest house prices in the UK but the lowest wages. Do you plan to get over to see where the ancestors came from?

That's one of the sadder things I've read. No thoughts of the Welsh solution Glyn, burning the buggers out? It's the only truly effective way to get rid of an infestation IMHO.

I sincerely hope that will not be done. Some hot-heads have been reported in the media as making such threats, but so far thankfully it has gone no further.

Parihaka,

"We're quietly confident John, we're quietly confident'

And so you should be, after all you ARE rated #1 in the world of Rugby. Then again what do I know, I am a 'Australian Rules Football' fan.

Resident grandson (Queenslander) says we WILL win the World Cup, but I think he is biased.

crooks,

"Is it true the toilets flush backwards as well (always wanted to know )!?"

I have done the 'water in a wash basin' thing multiple times in both hemispheres, and it seems to be a variable with it draining clock-wise and anti-clockwise.

I have some strong Irish blood in me, originally from Co Clare where 3 female ancestors were lumbered for "killing a calf with felonious intent" at the height of the Great Famine. I think they may have been a bit hungry. They all got the usual free (one way) trip to Tasmania.

John

Indeed, those were the times when anything Irish was suppressed......sad, but we're moving on, Ireland is very proud of it's past and we're looking forward to the future.

Clare's lovely, not far up the road from me, the Burren is a must-visit if you ever come - and as for the toilets, I thank you for the insight, your perfect for the board !
