snc,

Turkish eh?

My grandad said they could FIGHT (and knew how to die) like tigers!

Did you know we still celebrate 'ANZAC Day' on 25th April (1915) every year and probably will for the next 1000 years.

On that day, some 10,000 or so mainly young people gather at ANZAC Cove on the Gellibollu? Peninsular to pay tribute to BOTH sides.

Parihaka,

How will the All Black and Blues go in the World Cup? Our resident grandson says they can't play for nuts, and will not make the semis.

I have tried to convert him to REAL football but have failed.

Debbie,

I have spent 68 years being 'bitter and twisted', I doubt I can change now.

My wife sighs a lot!

OoE,

I have spent the last couple of days reading a HUGE number of (LONG) posts. The members seem very knowledgeable, and I think I shall keep my trap shut as much as possible for awhile.

Shamus,

Been to Michigan, well sort of, about 35,000' above it on my way from Newark to Chicago, and then Portland OR.

My third trip, in 2004, had us driving on I.10 from LA all along the southern border to FL then up to NYC and the OR.

Fifty nine nights, and an UNFORGETTABLE trip.

You have a beautiful country, and so much HISTORY!

Trip #4 is in the planning (and saving) stage.

dave,

A POM!

My favourite people, especially when we are giving you your annual hiding in Cricket, Rugby, Tennis, Soccer, etc, etc, etc, etc.

I have many English/Irish/Scottish/Manx ancestors. Quite a few came out with a free one-way ticket and made good in the colony.

Amled,

I must confess an ignorance of Denmark, apart from the fact that your future Queen is an Aussie. I guess we get about as much publicity over there as you get here. Looks pretty though, when Mary is on TV!

One thing I DO know, Denmark is COLD! Anything below freezing is a No! No! to most Australians.

;-)

John, this is about the safest way to view the beautiful city of Detroit ,however the rest of the state, especially the northern portion and the upper penninsula,is very beautiful.Come on up for a visit .Addendum to post after reading the above post-visit Michigan from late May to early September to totally avoid freezing temps.

Ray,

India, yet another country where we have to give a lesson in Cricket every year!

We will have to send Shane Warne over to give you a few lessons on "leggies".

What do you think of '20/20'?

Sapper,

38N 112W?????

Mate there is nothing THERE!!! Or is my navigation up the creek?

Melbourne glories in 38 SOUTH, and San Francisco is about the same. Lovely city, one of my favourites, but the site of the greatest tourist rip-off in the USA, 'Fishermans Wharf'.

Thanks for the welcome.

Shamus,

"Addendum to post after reading the above post-visit Michigan from late May to early September to totally avoid freezing temps.'

Many are the spots where I have said, "I could live here" but then I think of the American winter!

I have decided that the most northerly city I could live in, in the USA,

...... is KEY WEST!

We're quietly confident John, we're quietly confident
Something your resident grandson might clear up for me, why did you send your golden oldies team this time instead of the Wallabies?
