Hello

I just joined, obviously. I'm an American ex-pat living in Canada - I left after the first time Bush was elected. Not sure what else to tell you at the moment, I'm sure it will all come out eventually.

Cheers,
Justin

Why you would leave America to go to a "Social Democratic" State because Bush got elected, is beyond me.

Glad you edited that, at any rate, it's better here. In my opinion at least. Maybe I just heard the "love it or leave it" spiel too many times and finally took the other option. Clinton was generally too far right for me, and I haven't, for a second, regretted the move.

Well, I had thought the "Blue States Should Move To Canada" thread was hypothetical, but it seems to be turning into areality. Welcome.

Thanks! The election, the hanging chad one, was just the final straw for me, I was leaning north already. It now appears though that I'm just something of an advance scout.

Clinton is not as far left as many believe but he is hardly "to far to the right". Could you explain what you mean by "to far to the right"?

Welcome.

I too like Julie that it was a joke.

Canada or the USA, it matters not. So long as you are happy.

Well, as I'm sure you are aware, there is a right/center wing and a left wing to the Democratic party. In 8 years as president the only things Clinton did that were Left issues were the Northern Ireland Treaty and the creation of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Even his health care plan which the left would have applauded was to be run by insurance companies, so he essentially lost the support of the left as well as the right on that one. He promised to grant assylum to fleeing Haitians and then changed his mind after they were in the water and shipped them back, he signed NAFTA and GATT, both of which should have been heavily amended, he signed what was essentially a Republican welfare reform bill. The list goes on and on. Clinton was no friend of the left.
