I can take that one. Russo-Japanese war was a naval war
the land war was a hell of a slugfest. if the russians hadn't blinked, they probably could have outlasted the japanese on the ground, naval losses withstanding. as it was, the peace treaty pissed off the winners far more than the losers.

ww1 tzar gave away land for which him and his family was kiled by bolsheviks. I wouldn,t consider it a military loss. bad politycs.(tzar also got russia involved in ww1, that was not against russia to begin with)
The war continued after the Czar was overthrown. The provisional government “stayed the course” and kept fighting. The situation was not at the breaking point yet, the Russian soldiers on the line just wanted to end offensive actions and only defend their positions.

In fact the Russian army simply fell apart and at first refused to conduct any sort of attacks and then refused to even hold their positions and the Germans continued to advance. During the PGs major offensive, the Russian army just fell apart. The army formed its own Soviets which refused to follow orders. The defeat of the Russian army ended the war after the Czar was overthrown.

So some traitors didn’t make a peace agreement behind their backs, the damn Russian army had fallen apart and became quite German shy along with the population. Can't blame them but still, they broke.

let's do that what do you know about chechya???
i bet you don't know that chechen war is about money, russian goverment makes millions of USD on this war, they don,t want to end it yet,
2nd chechnya is part of russia so it,s more of a police issue not military, yes they have tanks planes but they also have civilians living there. much like iraq and afganistan, which is btw is not getting any better we went there trying to rebuild their way of life, doesn't work so far we are not welkom there.

The 31st moved from Fort William McKinley to Manila, and there set sail for Vladivostok, Siberia, arriving on August 21. The regiment was then broken into various detachments and used to guard the Trans-Siberian railway, as well as 130 km of a branch line leading to the Suchan mines.

For the next 2 years, the 31st and its sister, the 27th Infantry Regiment, fought off bands of Red revolutionaries and White counter-revolutionaries that were plundering the Siberian countryside and trying to gain control of the Trans-Siberian Railroad. They also dissuaded their 40,000 Japanese "allies" from taking control of Russian territory.

The regiment suffered its first battle casualties on August 29, 1918, in action near Ugolnaya. During the Siberian deployment, 30 soldiers of the 31st INF were killed (including one officer) and some 60 troops were wounded in action. In addition, a large number of troops lost limbs due to frostbite. During this deployment, the regiment received one Medal of Honor and 15 Distinguished Service Crosses. For its Service in Siberia, the 31st Infantry became known as "the Polar Bear regiment", adopting a silver polar bear as its insignia.

In April 1920, the regiment returned to Fort McKinley and, in December, was moved to the Post of Manila.

i woldn't call it a war, year was 1918 russian army was not existant, and not much was acomplished by that.
america also has incedents like that, was invaded by mexikans and spanish, about 200 years ago they lost forts and not much else only for a short while.
call me ignorant russian in denial, but these smal fights don't come close to what most people call a war.
You had two US Army regiments on YOUR soil for two years- cut off- and you couldn't make them leave(or defeat them) via force of arms.

You can call it what you want...us 31st Infantry Regiment veterans definitely consider it a "Victory".

No, we estimate russian strength now based on the unrelenting rumors of an ill-trained, poorly paid, racially charged and abusive, unprofessional gaggle that you insist is an Army.

Call us crazy...

yes you were on russian soil for 2 years, like i said year was 1918 young ussr had chaos in the country army was allmost not existant they had much more important issues to deal with than 2 US Army regiments, for vets of 31st they have every right to call it a victory, they came home, mission accomplished but as for russia they didn,t loose much. nobody in russia knows about that, i didn,t know before you told me.
as for all those things you mentioned about russian army now, it been like that since russian army was born it'll always stay like that,
Look at the world now, russia isn't a treat, r army isnt as good as ours but we have been attaced on our own soil (911) with our own planes by who? bunch of muslim terrorist that didn,t even have guns, and all owr army couldnt do a thig about it, i was there i've seen people jump and fall to their death was there for 2 weeks straight after attacks, saw fighters fly 5 min after 2nd plane hit. wasn,t much help our allmighty army. yes american army is very strong ,but strenght alone doesn,t win wars, tactics do, and russian army has allways a surprise up their sleeve.US army on the other hand is very prdictable.every army has its own pros and cons so do US and russia.

Yup the US army is predicatable, that how we wet around the flank after feinting an amphibious landing in 91 , and how we jumped the frontier straight off the bat instead of uisng prolonged airstrikes in 2003, ohh dont forget the brigade that secretly took the Karbala Gap whne we wer etellin g everyone on CNN tha tthe mother of all sands storms had shut us down.

Russias tactics handbook seems to consist of various ways to say "charge!" Thats why Russia keeps getting hammered in Chenchnyia. The army relies on firepowr even more than the US Army and they just shove troops forward trying to bury thier foes.

Very true. Don't forget Jackson marched the rest to death in a most deplorable manner to wasteland "reservations" even as the Supreme Court ruled the order constitutional. It was immoral and unethical no matter what way you look at it--the whole episode was disgraceful and excessive.

Not relevant to this thread however.

Most Americans know nothing about this chapter of American history either.

It was where my Regiment earned it's nickname: "Polar Bears"

Pro Patria means "For country!", and is the 31st Infantry's motto.

"What a pity. Anybody in Russia did not hear about "Polar bears." He reminds history about invincible Sam.

...Once in Russia civil war for a long time stormed. And anybody has not recollected about a mouth American soldiers which have hidden somewhere in Siberia because of speed of events. But war has terminated. And Russians have started to search for new entertainments".

...Gallant American soldiers have started to gather home; they also have left Russia very quickly.

PS:

History about invincible Sam:
Two cowboys sat in a bar. The third man, who was the weak sickly person, comes.

- look, it is invincible Sam, - one has told.
- what, really nobody can win him???
- it is not present, he is necessary to nobody.

Interesting...............I can imagine it now call me crazy but wouldn't it be cool to have camoflauged polar bear mutants that are humanlike in intelligence and movement. Thermal googles will be of no use!!!!!The ultimate stealth soldier!

Not like It'll ever happen though but you never know.......

I can tell you that's not true. It all depends on how high you've set the IR detection to.
