HUMMVEE's must suck.

I've got a 6.2 GM diesel in my van. If that's the motor in the HUMMVEEEEEEE....My sympathy for the guys who drive them. Cummins would have been a far better choice. Heck, how about a Detriot V-8 2-cycle? How about a sex-crazed squirrel in an exercise wheel?

HUMVEE's could pull down a house, but they had the equivalent acceleration of the typical amoeba, lol.

M-2 is the Cal.50BMG heavy machine gun. So you were right BUFF.

We called it the 'Ma Duece'.

I think what the Hummers need is better armor, this is pretty obvious after the War in Iraq and "Black Hawk Down" in the 1993 raid to capture Somali warlord Mohammad Adid

Is it supposed to be a big jeep, or a smaller (unprotected) APC? We got mission creep here.

The 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group had a chance to use the armoured HUMVEE as well as the Coyote ARV (from the Reconaisance Squadron, Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians)).

In essence, the Pats loved the HUMVEE while the Straths hated it and this is reflective of how the two approach their mission. A Coy, 3 PPCLI is a jump coy and anytime that they get off their feet and move faster and have an armoury move with them, they're in heaven. The jump coy's job is to get there fast. The HUMVEE is not any faster than a drop or a helo insert but it sure can get them out of Dodge faster than they could on foot, a capability that 3 PPCLI, being a light inf bn, is painfully aware of.

By contrast, the Straths are zipperheads - enough said.

We have armored HUMVEE's, they're called 'Heavy Hummers'.

That's the one with the 25mm gun or the Avenger missile system.

The current civilian version is called a Hummer H2. Much better looking and has a LS1 style 6.0 liter gasoline engine that has good get up and go. If you are going to stick to Diesel, I agree, go with the Cummins turbo..... Just remember, Diesels are not meant for high RPM speed, just for low speed torque.....

So you'd be better climbing a mountain than flooring it on the highway, right?
