I think the coolest Humvee is the Avenger.

Over all speed might leave much to be desired. But I'll repeat a story my brother told me when he was part of the Marine Corps Detachment in Somalia:

We were along the coast doing manuevers in Humvee's. Before we started, our CO offered fifty dollars to anyone who could bang a Humvee up bad enough to get it to stop working.

First we practiced with D-Day type landing craft. Now we were told to wait until the ramp hit the sand beofre driving off the craft. But as soon as the ramp lowered enough for us to see daylight...We'd gun the engine and ramp 'em.

Then we moved inland a little. And we were plowing into everything in out path. Trees, stone walls, we were even running down camels. But none of us were able to make our Humvee stall, And renedered inoperable.

The Marines had it easy in Operation Restore Hope. 20,000 strong, Bush Senior in charge. And The Warlords weren't to eager to confront them. Some sappers & mortars used against the base(es). But that was about it.

Clinton took over, sent in the UN. Then the Rangers, Delta, and Soars. With a UN leash up thier asses.

I have seen the movie about it. Thier ride(s) in humvees might of been less fun BR.

Probably. It's never fun if they're shooting AT you and not WITH you...

I agree there BR!!!! When I worked nights out in the boonies I always carried a Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag... We had lots of construction going on and people would try to steal things. The gun wasn't to be a hero or anything. I would just use the binoculars to try to get a license and then phone it in. The problem was, this was very hilly country and you might crest a hill or turn a corner and run right into them. I had the gun in case they started shooting at me and disabled my vehicle. Because like you said, it's one thing to shoot at people, it's another thing if they are shooting back at you…. I figured a .44 caliber hand cannon might give them something to think about…..

That is true. if you've ever read the book, or seen the movie.

They went from impersonating the scary guy with a scar above his eye.
And flexcuffing the C.O.'s to gurneys, and putting them on display for the base to see.

To that operation, that turned to ****.

If it wouldn't of been so unoriginal, I'd lack enough regard for my well being to talk with a southern twang and impersonate Light Coronel Mike Steele. And as luck would have it, wouldn't need a paperclip stuck to my eyebrow. :Dbanana

Blackhawk Down. The volleyball incident wasn't in the movie though.
Cry

But shhh! I've had a few interesting long distant convo's with Kenny Thomas.

From the pics & videos I've seen of him...it would appear I'd be perfectly capable of singlehandedly taking him down. And trapping him in a gurney..like they did at the "planned volleyball game".

Kenny Thomas was one of the Rangers in Somalia. Might be more risky than say..and IDF Solder Big Ross :p

But it'd appear I could handle a little trap for him like that, all by my lonesome. :D
