Big K: Your drawing of a nuclear powered suit is neat but there are two things wrong with it.
One is that the environmentalists will not let you use nuclear power - they would prefer your suit has a tall mast and a huge propeller for a wind driven generator. Second is - umm - how to say this without being edited. How do you go to the bathroom with it? Just taking a leak with those pincers is pretty darn scary to me. The first of your photographs show an actual test rig of a power-enhancing exo-skeleton but they still have a lot of bugs to work out in weight and mobility. The second photograph is merely plywood cutouts showing where an ex0-skeleton would be place. Even if they were made of steel with no motor enhancements, all they could do is help prevent breaking an arm or a leg or add a tad bit of armor to the outside extremities of the soldier. The exo-skeleton showed in the old, old Popular Mechanics magazine (or maybe it was Popular Science) was made of wood but looked very probable. Sure wish I saved that magazine now. I wonder if the publishers can dig it up for us. |
