The AH-64 news doesn't excite me as much as the Cirit rocket (comparable to the DAGR), it should be ready this year.

However, what I believe is a significant development by ROKETSAN of Turkey is the new family of Heavy Anti-Tank missiles such as the Umtas and Omtas. ROKESTSAN had gained alot of know how from the failed Eyx project and it is said that Turkey decided to go solo and design its own anti-tank missiles family. These are said to be equivalent to the Hellfire II by US Sources. See Roketsan’ın UMTAS ve Cirit’i « savunma ve uluslararası iliÅŸkiler Defense Technology International - September 2007 In fact, there is some problems associated with the incorporation of Turkish designed lancers and Umtas and Cirit. The US does not want to allow Turkey the incorporation of its own weapons on the Apache. However, Turkey has made it clear that if this is the case it will cancel the deal. |
