Yes, but we also see that for every 4 tanks, there is also a low-altitude and/or medium altitude Air Defence system attached. Turkey utilises the ASELSAN Zipkin or Atilgan systems for this.

Guys you are forgetting about Active Protection Systems (APS), which almost every modern tank utilizes or is in the process of utilizing.

Turkey's National Tank, like all 21st century tank decelopments will incorporate both a Soft Kill and Hard Kill system for close protection against ATGW's.

Hence, I think the ATGW threat is being blown out of proportion.

By the way, the Turks are considering something similar to the Israeli IRON FIST for its hard kill protection system.

The PKK (not the Kurds, we have nothing against the race), is the least of Ankara's worries. Surely, NATO's second largest army is not only for the PKK.

For every tank platoon there is an SP SAM system?

What the hell for? Seems rather wasteful don't you think? Since Turkey has something close to 3,000 tanks last time I checked (not all active I'm sure) that means they have something like 750 of these systems in service?

There are 2400 Active Tanks. The rest are in storage. In relation to the ZIPKIN and ATILGAN Pedestal Mounted Stinger Systems, not all of them are yet operational. They are still being produced. Some have been exported to Holland.

Furthermore, a 12.5mm Gun will be incorporated into the Low altitude defence systems. The gun is a joint project between FNSS of Turkey and BAE Systems.

The current Tank inventory is as follows:
0 MİTÜP Turkish National Tank Project (a total of 1000 (option for 2000) new MBTs will be produced)
298 Leopard 2A4
77 Leopard 1A3T1/TU120
150 Leopard 1A3T1
166 Leopard 1T (under Volkan Tank Improvement Project)[2][3]
170 M60T (under M60 Tank Modernization Project)[4][5][6]
650 M60A3 TTS
105 M60A1 RISE Passive
750 M 48A5T2 (upgraded to M 60A3 Standard)
600 M 48A5T1 (upgraded to M 60A1 Standard)
100+ M 48T5 (upgraded and converted to ARVs)
1200+ M 48A5 (in reserve)

This is another (below) picture of one of the demonstrator designs done by Otokars design team (The Company in charge of the design of the National Tank Program)....

But again it remains to be seen, what infact will be chosen and whether or not any of the current designs will be chosen....
