How many rifle rounds does your country's army fire off for training purposes?

This is on a per soldier per year basis.

For the CF, if you're going on deployment in Afghanistan, you're shooting 1000-2000 rounds before you step foot in Asia.

I fired 8 rounds of 30-06 today from my Garand...

I'm looking for my ice pack for my shoulder right now.

I always likened firing a Garand to laying on the ground with a 2x4 against my shoulder while somebody hit the other end with a big hammer. My father loved that gun though.

In the Turkish Armed Forces the recruits fire a minimum of 3=6 rounds during the first month o training. After that normally the rate is 3-6 per month for the rest of 14 months.

thank you Officer of Engineers. I presume that is an upgraded M16. I like the AR15, very accurate at medium range, use it here to shoot varmints.
Very low recoil.

Only 3-6 rounds a month? Or you mean 3-6 magazines? You can't even get warmed up with 3-6 rounds.

no , really 3-6 rd. per month is quite probable . During my service 10 years ago monthly norm was around 10-30 .
My friends who have served in Sov.Army told that it was not uncommon to shoot 3rds. during 2-year service time .

Ouch...how can you train a rifleman with 30 rounds a month? I fire off a few hundred in a single trip on my smaller rifles. The Garand and the 44 magnum carbine is a bit much so I limit them to less than 10. Those ammo do get expensive though.

I just thought even the conscripts should get a few hundred rounds at the end of bootcamp so they have proficiency for the next year or so. Then have some refresher cource every quarter or half year to maintain the skill.

Come on gunnut....what's it going to take to get you to come over to the Dark Side and start re-loading your own??
