He does have a point. The key word in British, Canadian, and Australian strategic vision is "Coalition" though not necessarily with the Americans.
The Brits and Canucks are the ones leading the charge in Afghanistan at the moment.

I think it is timely to add that the Brits are currently world champions at tiddlywinks and conkers - cricket - who needs it?
Oh, and for the record, British soldiers do not refuse to partake in military exercises when a supply of coke and 'dogs cannot be guaranteed! |

Being a newbie to the forum, I am taking for granted that Achtung's smart@ss comment about Britain's insignificance is a joke among good friends.
Being a newbie, (immigrant), to America I find some playful Francophobia from time to time, but never anything but respect for the Brits. My son the Leatherneck trained with Royal Marines at Twentynine Palms in the California desert. I'm certain only the best got to come play in the sand with our boys but, according to my kid, they "can outfight us mano-e-mano all day and out drink us at the pizza parlor all night." Thank God for true friends in wars and intermissions (peace). Albion is our truest friend. Canada, Australia are right there with her. We may all disagree on politics, football and units of measure, but when the chips are really down, the 'Four ugly sisters' (remember Charles De Gaulle?), will always team tussle. BTW: GB gave us Benny Hill. |
