England seems to have given up on cricket- if one goes by their record against the Kangaroos in the ashes, and is only concerned with football (for the americans here, soccer!)..

..as the italians said-"we ruled the western world, then became wise, now we stick to fast cars and loose women"

Little maybe, irrelevant to you,perhaps......but your administrations did not think so, seems we were a little more important than you may think.

You forgot Posh Spice, sorry, Beckham.

And if you think I'm going to forgive you for the Spice Girls or Coronation Street, you've got another thing coming.

I will allow Ian Fleming an honourable mention though.

Already got em and all I can say is that if we had an airforce and I was in charge we'd already have bombed the BBC for cruel and unusual punishment

We have what we call "New Zealand on air". Two of the channels (TVNZ) are owned by the state, but are required to turn a profit, which is returned to the govt. The govt. then gives TVNZ about $80m which they are supposed to make NZ based programmes that reflect 'who we are' blah blah. In reality they count the news as locally made content and spend the rest on piss-ups abroad.
It's a useful way of keeping gay men called nigel out of everyones hair.

Anyone like Yes Minister, or Yes Prime Minister?

PG Wodehouse fans anyone?

My fave books were the Mike series- Mike at Wrykyn, Mike and PSmith, etc etc. And then the PSmith ones.

Theres another bunch on Billy Bunter and the William series (Richmal Compton?)

And of all things, Biggles!
