I don't think this could have happened with helicopter mobile forces. There was already some Special Forces in the general area, maybe with the Kurds, but jumping was the best way to get the brigade on the ground fast.

I actually knew this op was underway before the first C-17 lifted off cause one of the Abrams TCs was dating one of the female pilots on my board and gave her the good ole', "Honey i'm being sent on a secret mission..." routine. And i guess she had to tell SOMEONE, so who better than me i guess???(still trying to figure that one out...maybe she told 100 people, lolol). I gotta admit, knowing for days before it came public(i told no one of course) was pretty damned cool. Felt like i was actually somehow involved. ![]() |

It was 8 M113A3s, 4 M1064A3s, 5 Abrams, 5 Bradleys, and I think 1 M88.
