I've only ever seen US 105mm tank guns fired live, and those had tracers.
Snip, the tanks I saw firing were Vijayants (Indian copy of the Vickers), not russian T series tanks.

I saw two Vijayants fire their L7 guns during an infantry fire power demo, but I did not see any tracers. Would they have been been AP rounds or do the L7 british guns also use tracer for HEAT.

For the 76mm (M32 or M48) :

* with tracer : AP, HVAP, HVAP-DS, HEAT, TP, WP (M361A1)
* without tracer : HE, Blank, Canister, WP (M361),

For the 90mm (M36, M41 or M54) :

* with tracer : AP, APC, HVAP, APERS, HE (M71A1), HEAT (M431 series), TP
* without tracer : HE (M71), HEAT (M348 series), Blank, Dummy, Canister, WP

AFAIK, Indians don't use HEAT rounds for their 105mm.

Most 105mm rounds currently used by India have tracers (APFSDS, HESH, APDS), including practice rounds (DS and SH).

I suspect they must have been using Blank rounds in the demo you've seen.

Could'nt be blanks, as the target was being blown to bits.

The bugle sounds and the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath
As I plunge on into certain death.
The horse he sweats with fear we break to run
The mighty roar of the Russian guns
And as we race towards the human wall
The screams of pain as my comrades fall
We hurdle bodies that lay on the ground
And the Russians fire another round
We get so near yet so far away
We won't live to fight another day.
We get so close near enough to fight
When a Russian gets me in his sights
He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow
A burst of rounds take my horse below.
And as I lay there gazing at the sky
My body's numb and my throat is dry
And as I lay forgotten and alone
Without a tear I draw my parting groan"

It's no wonder Cav troops are usually big Iron Maiden fans.
Wow. That beats Tennyson in my book.

One of the greatest heavy metal songs of all time. GREAT effing song. Just a DRIVING rhythm.

Pretty much all Iron maiden lyrics are that filled with meaning.

Any fan of WWII will love this:

Lyrics to the Iron Maiden song: ACES HIGH

Cue intro, Churchill(the actual audio track of that famous speech) speaking his famous speech...

"We shall go on to the end.
We shall fight in France
We shall fight over the seas and oceans.
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air.
We shall defend our island...whatever the cost may be
we shall fight on beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight on the hills.
We shall never surrender!!!!!"

BOOM! MUSICAL EXPLOSION and cut to:

"There goes the siren that warns of the air raid
Then comes the sound of the guns sending flak
Out for the scramble weve got to get airborne
Got to get up for the coming attack.

Jump in the cockpit and start up the engines
Remove all the wheelblocks theres no time to waste
Gathering speed as we head down the runway
Gotta get airborne before its too late.

Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving, going in again
Run, live to fly, fly to live, do or die
Run, live to fly, fly to live. aces high.

Move in to fire at the mainstream of bombers
Let off a sharp burst and then turn away
Roll over, spin round and come in behind them
Move to their blindsides and firing again.

Bandits at 8 oclock move in behind us
Ten me-109s out of the sun
Ascending and turning our spitfires to face them
Heading straight for them I press down my guns

Rolling, turning, diving
Rolling, turning, diving, going in again
Run, live to fly, fly to live, do or die
Run, live to fly, fly to live, aces high."

---------------

Run to the hills(the war vs the indians), 2 minute to midnight(nuclear war), hallowed eve(death penalty).....all just TREMENDOUS all time great songs.

They also have THE coolest band mascot(Eddie), and cover art OF ALL TIME.

Typical square targets made of drums/ sandbags for ATGMs/RCLs. There were no KOed tanks or concrete targets.
