I agree... I think that without the UN the Israeli's would have been pushing hard to remove arabs from the territory they control... and then once they had filled up that territory they would seek some more. Why? Because the arabs would still have it as their stated goal to destroy the Israeli state and massacre the Jews (that second part is an implied consequence of the destruction of the Israeli state).

I think both sides are bad in this conflict... however I think the Israeli's are a better nation and want to win more, and so they deserve to.

I think that without the UN Israel would continue and complete the transfer of the palestinians right over the six day war...

never mind the UN, all it needed was the US who are financing Israel much more than other countries.

Look at the time, professor! It's getting late. Time to have your milk and climb that wooden hill. Good night, sleep tight.

glyn,

to be honest, given the current state of the UN right now, i'm not so sure having our professor here at its head would necessarily make things much worse

I'll take the liberty of correcting your grammar for you:

Never mind the UN, all it needs is the US, which is financing Israel more than any other country.

This is the perfect opportunity for a Carlos Mencia trademark sound.

Hmm. I'm trying to decide whether you are an optimist or a pessimist!

Perhaps he is utilizing the mechanism of doublethink.

Without a UN, there would have been no chance at a Palestinian nation. Egypt and Jordan would have never given up their territory, and only did so after it became clear that they couldn't forcefully remove Israel from it.

Without a public forum, the Arabs might well have given up.

What if there had been no UN?

...we'd never have noticed Khruschev's shoes.

The problems created by Nehru for India would have been less.

The annual piligrimage of luxury of all the "top elite" of the world paid by their taxpayers, discussing how the breakfast had only 1,000 varieties!, wouldnt have been there
I can think of no other reason for an eitheopean president to meet say a srilankan one.
