Israeli raid targets Nablus

New Israeli raid targets Nablus

Israeli forces have wounded at least two Palestinians in a fresh raid in the West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian sources say.

They say Israeli jeeps poured into the city centre and troops opened fire before withdrawing.

It was the latest in a number of raids in the West Bank over the past week.

Israel says it is looking for militants and weapons stores. Palestinian officials have accused the Israelis of unprovoked aggression.

Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Ismail Haniya has said Israel is trying to undermine a recent unity agreement between Palestinian factions.

Nablus is the West Bank's second-largest city and formerly a commercial hub. Israel says it is a militant stronghold.

The Israelis are the legitimate nation of the two, so I don't care what the so-called Palestinian "PM" says. I just hope that there is no more violence-mainly for the Israelis' benefit. Despite my tender feelings toward Israel, the media has either biased the description of this raid, or the Israelis are now fighting like guerillas. Regardless, the Israelis play “tit for tat”. The Israelis are fighting people who don’t play by the rules, so how do you expect the Israelis to fight?

Go Israel!!!!!!

Yeah, Nablus and Qalkiliya are the terror infrastructure and recruiting centers in the West Bank if there ever were any. And guess which brigade is responsible for this part of Central Command? Nahal. And guess who's gonna be in Nahal soon...

Israel says its forces raided the Palestinian military intelligence headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah Wednesday and detained 18 militants.

The Israeli army said the men were wanted for attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers.

Palestinian security sources say those detained were members of the security service but also belonged to the militant al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades group, which is an offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.

Palestinians say there were no injuries in the Israeli operation.

In East Jerusalem, Israeli police arrested Israeli Muslim cleric Raed Salah, after he led a protest against Israel's excavation and repair work near the Al Aqsa mosque compound.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the cleric was arrested for leading a demonstration without a permit and raising Palestinian and Syrian flags.

Salah, who leads a hard-line branch of Israel's Islamic Movement, has spearheaded the fight to stop Israel's renovation work near the holy compound in Jerusalem's Old City - that Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary and Jews, the Temple Mount.

Israel says the work is no threat to the Muslim holy site and that it is repairing a ramp damaged by a snowstorm.

Arabs and Muslim around the world say excavation work is endangering the foundation of the mosque compound - Islam's third holiest site.

Hamas Calls For Revenge In Killing of Palestinians
Weekend Incidents Leave Nine Dead in Territories

By Scott Wilson
Washington Post Foreign Service
Monday, April 23, 2007; Page A13

JERUSALEM, April 22 -- Israeli soldiers killed three Palestinians in incidents Sunday in the West Bank, prompting Hamas officials to call on their movement's military wing to respond "with all possible means of resistance."

Following the most violent day between Israelis and Palestinians in weeks, Israeli soldiers killed two wanted men in Nablus during a morning arrest operation after troops came under fire, military officials said.

The Hamas agenda cannot , peace plan or otherwise or so it appears.

One wonders what would make them have a change of heart and work for peace.

How can violence ever achieve a meeting point of views?

Something must give.

What?
