I don't know, they seem to be pretty sympathetic to all the Muslim causes and things, trying to secure their oil supplies I guess. Granted, while at the same time agitating their own Muslim minorities with tough laws and discrimination, but still. I can't see them agreeing with us as much as you think at least.

No, the majority of the failures belong solely with the suits in NY. When every Prime Minister and President was on the phone to Tel Avi arranging for safe passage for their citizens out of Lebanon, where was Kofi Annan? MGen MacKenzie has publically stated that if you need a decision from New York, don't call after 3:00 pm EST Friday afternoon. Guess when the UNIFIL guys, my officer, was bombed.

Granted, there are times when insufficient resources were committed but the guys on the ground will always do their best. It takes balls to stay unarmed in a bomb magnet just to keep the intelligence flowing and those 4 officers did it for 4 days before the unfortunate incident.

The cynic in me says that both sides are using UNIFIL as a breather to rearm, regroup, re-assess, re-evalutate, and then to re-commit.

This being said, UNIFIL has been beefed up. They have the assets now to do a job, perhaps not the job everybody wanted but they can do a job. And that job is to control their AO. The Israelis are warned. You can be assured that the Hezbollah has also been warned.

UNIFIL may not be able to win wars against either one but they can win battles and they're drawing the lines.

What do you say to the idiot who was so stupid that he kept the floodgates openned and allow 800,000 people to be butchered. You think after that debacle, the freaking idiot is more humble and be more on the ball. Heaven sakes, UNIFIL was being bombed for 4 days straight and not one word from the freaking idiot to Tel Avi.

Well in his defence, Israel arent exactly known for caring a whole lot what the rest of the world thinks so long as they're still getting the bullets and bombs they need to keep fighting.

That day that the UN steps in to fight Hizballah in Israel's place is the day that they'll start paying attention to Kofi's little rants.

The point is that Annan was on his weekend getaway instead of doing his job.
