They won't. Not under the "Iran" label.

Supplying someone to smuggle a bomb into Israel? Or perhaps using biological means to wreak havok on Israel? That I buy as possible/probable.

Sooner or later, someone is going to come to power in Iran that may well deliver on that promise though.

If Iran had a functioning nuclear arsenal then hopefully the US would be more cautious about engaging Iran; any use of nuclear weapons would be disastrous for the world.
It would be quite easy to load a missile on a cargo ship and launch it close to U.S. shores. They could then launch the missile and detonate it in the atmosphere. The resulting EMP would fry all none hardened electronics within a radius of possibly the whole country depending on the size of the bomb. while this would not hinder our ability to hit back it would put the U.S. and to some extent the world economy into the stone ages.

The Iranians have already been practicing with their Shahab-3 missiles detonating them near apogee during tests.

Not so easy and beyond current Iranian nuclear knowhow. Besides, such an action is a nuclear attack on the United States resulting in a complete retalliation

    Yes, "quite easy".

Except that Iran has no nuclear weapons. And even in your scenario it would be a one-off attack. Followed by overwhelming (nuclear) retaliation from the US. Not plausible in the least, and if it were, you should be far more concerned over North Korea than Iran.
