You brush with so wide a brush as to make your critique meaningless. Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan and Egypt have given rise to ideologies that under pin Sunni radicalism - in Iran you have a regime developed and committed to the radical Islamist project. |

Is it not true that most of the terror attacks in the last decade or so have been carried out terror groups who are predominantly sunni terror groups with ideological linkage to Saudi/Pakistan (and may be Egypt). Most of the hijackers of 9/11 were Saudies, since 9/11 all the terrorists have have been caught in Pakistan or if caught else where had links to Pakistan. I understand that Iran supports Hebullah, and Hejbullah has some terror attacks in their name during the 80's. During the 90's they have fought a border war with Israel on the Israel-Lebenon border which ended when Israelies withdrew from Lebenon. Other than that, I don't see Iran hands in international terrorism. According to 9/11 commission report, both Pakistan and Saudi were upto their neck into it. Can you name some of the terrorism sponsered by Iran and carried by Iran supported terrorist groups? |

Pakistan is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, and is the jehad factory capable of producing jehadis by millions. Pakistan was the creator of Taleban and Pakistani ISI was a close collaborator with Osama bin Laden and AlQaeda. That said, I am not saying Iranian are innocent. They contrinue to support Hezbullah who had committed terrorists acts against US during the 80's. But during the 90's Hezbullah have not done much in the name of terror. Current terrorists groups are all sunni terror groups with ideological and physical linkage with Saudis and Pakistan. |

Going by old definition you would be right, going by the new definition, in the sense the word "Islamists" is being used currently, you would be wrong. Hardcore Islamic fundalmentalism is wahabistic in nature and has been spread by Saudi Arabia wheather in Afghanistan or Pakistan or anywhere else. Do you have any idea how many mosques Saudis have contructed here in US? Hundreds of them. In fact US has about 2,000 mosques, most of them were buit by Saudi money. In any case we are talking terrorism here, and in the last decade or so AlQaeda has been the single dominant international terrorism oreganization, and we all know that AlQaeda and its affliates are Wahabi-sunni terrorist organization, which makes it a Saudi/Pakistani organization. Quote:
All the major terrorist attacks during 90's and beyound have been carried out by AlQaeda and groups affliated to it. AlQaeda is a sunni-wahabi terrorist organization. Iranians are shias and ideologically opposed to sunni/wahabi brand of Islam. Recall that Taleban which was linked to AlQaeda massacred thousands of Hazara-shias in Afghanistan, which was not appriciated by Iran. Quote:
I don't think they threatened USA first. Last edited by turnagainarm : 09-29-2004 at 06:44 AM. |
