Reactor brings war with Iran 1 step closer
Iran opens nuclear reactor, defying U.N.
AP KHONDAB, Iran - Iran's hard-line president on Saturday inaugurated a heavy-water production plant, a facility the West fears will be used to develop a nuclear bomb, as Tehran remained defiant ahead of a U.N. deadline that could lead to sanctions. The U.N. has called on Tehran to stop the separate process of uranium enrichment -- which also can be used to create nuclear weapons -- by Thursday or face economic and political sanctions. --- Tick-tock, tick-tock. “The most persistent sound which reverbrates through man’s history is the beating of war drums.” ~Arthur Koestler, Janus Last edited by Anon : 08-26-2006 at 14:59 PM. |

'But AQ Khan is under house arrest!'
Would $1B break the resolve of any renegade Russian Generals? I think it would. $5B for 5 nukes, Iran blows one up as a test to show the world and achieves its objectives to have nukes and be respected by US/NATO/Israel etc. On the otherhand Russians get $5B for severly short r&d budget for their future weapons systems. I think Russians are fools..........same fools as Indians who did not bomb Pako nuke program in early 80s and are now paying the price. India should have bought Kh-55 Cruise Missiles from Russia and bombed Pako nuke programs and end of the story. Wimps-and-Wussies end up whining and complaining in the end just like Indians are doing today hehehehehehehehe! The small, winged Kh-55 missile is powered by a turbofan jet engine that propels it at sustained subsonic speeds and can be launched from both high and low altitudes. After launch, the missile's folded wings, tail surfaces and engine inlet deploy. It is guided through a combination of an inertial guidance system plus a terrain contour-matching guidance system which uses radar and images stored in the memory of an onboard computer to find its target. This allows the missile to guide itself to the target with a high degree of accuracy, with a reported CEP of 150 m. RANGE OF KH-55 IS AROUND 3000 KMS. FIRE IT FROM CALCUTTA AND TAKE A SHORT NAP BEFORE FIREWORKS START. Last edited by hound : 08-26-2006 at 15:34 PM. |

Whilst they waste money I assure you that many are scrambling to invest money in any one of which might be best described as "dead American funds". It is appalling the return on quite a few equities and securities which are dependent upon bad American foreign policy and dead Americans. Dead and maimed Americans are worth quite a bit of money to everybody but themselves. Scandalous in the extreme I assure you but first hand observation of profits accrued from so called "sacrafice" for "freedom", "Liberty", "liberation", "Justice", "stay the course", etc., etc. makes one want to vomit. I have seen a man crow upon news that he was going to get twenty four cents on every dollar he ponied up in support of the Bush Administration's military adventurism. I would be a liar if I told you that I did not get a little blood money myself (my bet was on the table in 1998) but the rabid enthusiasim of people who rush to invest in factories for body armor and shops for artificial limbs really makes me ambivalent to condemn my neighboor or cousin's Soldier/Marine/Sailor/Airman son/daughter/relative/mother/father to death. Evil is afoot and I'll not endorse it for it is much closer to home than Tehran. William

Bet ya a lot of arms suppliers made a lot of money during WWII.
We should've deferred? To deny them their profit? If you were smart you'd invest your money in those things too. That doesn't make you evil. Just smart. Last edited by Anon : 08-27-2006 at 03:53 AM. |

Why would they be making a heavy water planet instead of trying to use purified graphite? Isn't it cheaper than heavy water AND used by the Russians that the Iranians are getting assistance from?

The war is more closer to Iran, the more likelihood of nukes be made out to protect themselves.Once Iranian hold the nukes, the whole international society would shut their mouth up

Iran is totally sure that the US is overstretched in finances as also in troops and equipment and it is not in a position to wage war.
That is why they are not only going ahead enhancing their nuclear capability but also testing a whole range of sophisticated weapons. |

Iranians have every right to build their own nuclear weapons. Iran should not give up its weapons. Why doens't USA give up theirs? They have about 6000 of them. Why can't Iran have some too? No one is going to use them anyway. American hatred of USA begun from the Iranian Revolution and still continues. Iranians are building weapons to only defend themselves and to produce energy in a faster way for their economy.
