    Motivation in public life.

Why do people enter public life? To do good? I find it extremely tragic, and foolish. I don't know President Obama's approval rating, but people are calling the Congress Party corrupt in India, and very notable people are accusing important leadership of the party ('ministers') of 'thievery', to use a less controversial word, 'corruption'. The U. S. is a paragon of democratic virtue, so is the U. K., it seriously seems to me.
