I really don't care. Lei Feng is still a bad soldier no matter which way you twist it. He did not pay attention. He died.

    This is combat?

    Kap'yong. We won that one.

Why? This is not about Canada. This is about Lei Feng being a bad soldier and the PLA a bad army until 1979.

    You learned nothing.
Statistics about the Vietnam War Go to this.I think you need to learn history again.
It's not a combat. It's a young man was bullying a old alcoholic. No matter how ,I'm young,I still have many choices
You will win? You're good at psycholagnying.

    Get off the high horse.

You can learn A LOT from the Colonel, and just maybe he can learn some little from you, not vice versa.

No need to go with personal attacks on anybody here. Unless you seek a ban from this forum.

With a little help from your friends.

On a related note, did Canadian & Australian troops fight side by side in WW1 and/or WW2? I had a suspicion we might have on the Western Front in WW1, but wasn't aware of any in WW2.

Are you freaking an idiot? 1979. The Americans have long left and if you want to compare, Vietnam admitted to 2 million casualties in the 2nd Indo-China War.

That makes kapyong a rather remarkable moment in our nations shared history then. Good result for the ROK as well.

About 20 years ago I spent a few hours on a train chatting with a Kiwi who had been there. This was back when virtually no one in Australia outside the military or Korean War historians had ever heard of kapyong (me included). He said it was one hell of a fight. Couldn't believe he survived, let alone came out on the winning side. Not a great advertisment for the folks who would create the cult of Lei Feng I'm afraid.

    Z timezone,

here is what you need to know. lei feng and his qualities are good for the Party. not so good for the country.
The human mind cannot grasp the causes of phenomena in the aggregate. But the need to find these causes is inherent in man’s soul. And the human intellect, without investigating the multiplicity and complexity of the conditions of phenomena, any one of which taken separately may seem to be the cause, snatches at the first, the most intelligible approximation to a cause, and says: “This is the cause!"

I sent a PM to him admonishing his behavior.

He said he was going to withdraw and called us a bunch of stuff....proving youth is wasted on the young.

Hopefully this thread can now return to its serious discussion and the Colonel can have his blood pressure reduced!

Oh, where I come from we had a name for Lei Feng......brown noser.

Few sticks of dynamite in the water across his cabin should do the trick.

A very entertaining read.. a suggestion to collect all these threads that involve a hapless interloper and the Colonel, its good comedy!

Poor Lei Feng. His was a sorry if selfless lot.
I don't think so. Lei Feng is much clever than you think. I think he has a very good IQ and EQ. Speach before thousands of people is not a easy job, haveing good relationship with everybody is also not a easy job. And please check the speed of his promotion.

I think if he lives, he will become a general or a high rank governor, living a happy life.

Lei Feng is a very good person, optimistic, enthusiasm and warm hearted. To me, I will be very happy to have a friend or workmate like him.
Now in China we emphasis not Lei Feng's party side, but his characters of a human. Always enthusiasm and willing to give you a hand when you needed.
