Britain tells women soldiers to carry condom

Britain tells women soldiers to carry condom- Hindustan Times

pregnancies at the bases in Afghanistan are on the rise, Britain has launched a campaign warning its female soldiers to carry condoms.

Adverts in the Army's official magazine Soldier warned "on deployment, there'll be 50 blokes to each woman' and urge female squaddies, medics and administrative staff to use a condom or "face something you really don't want to hear".

Officially, a "no-touching" rule bans military personnel from having sex in a war zone.

But, according to senior officers, provided sexual relationships are between soldiers of a similar rank and do not impact on operations commanders often turn a blind eye.

However, if, for example, a female nurse is caught having sex with a senior officer, both would face serious disciplinary action and could be thrown out of the Army.

Once female soldiers become pregnant, they are flown home immediately, because rules bar expectant mothers from frontline service.

According to Mail Today, between January 2003 and February 2009, at least 102 British servicewomen posted to Iraq had been sent home after it was found they were to become mothers.

Over the same period the number of female soldiers who had discovered they were pregnant while in theatre in Afghanistan was 31.

Condoms are readily available to male and female soldiers at bases such as Camp Bastion, which houses 8,500 British troops - including 700 women.

A Minister of Defence spokesperson said, "The MoD does not encourage sexual relationships in theatre. All personnel are expected to behave in accordance with the Armed Forces values and standards at all times."
I heard some female soldiers intentionally try to get pregnant so they could return home. That's what I heard, not sure if it's a rumor or not.

Now,that's bad.Is there any punishment for that?

About this move, me think it's a good one.Especially for people who have strong sex drives. Rules are broken and better safe then sorry.

Doesn't matter. Sex is a quick ticket out of theatre. Those who are serious about their jobs would rather sleep than to have sex.

I do know a guy in my unit that got it on with one of the radio techs inside the tank. They were looking for someplace quiet, that's the only place they could find.

It was during our down period, so the tanks weren't being used for anything, just maintained. If they were caught they both would have been court-martialed, but they were lucky. One guy got caught getting a ** in an empty guard tower. He spent 56 days in jail and she got 21 days in jail. He got more cause the Battalion CO said that as long as he was in the guard tower, he should have been guarding and slapped him with the extra 5 weeks brig time.

yep we need specialists to deal with the issue right now front and center. lol
ahhaahhhahaah But it would be kinda cool to have army recruit "be all that you can be in the comfort brigade", "service for the service man and woman"... Oh I could come up with these slogans forever. " be a comforteer now just 2 weeks of training and you could be on the front lines " :P

Equal rank should have nothing to do with it, there is either a ban or there is not. If the SOP says 'no' then 'no' it is. You can't say it's against the rules BUT it's OK if you're are the same rank. Shall we return to the days of wives and camp followers?

You tell em Sharpy ,you tell em ,

But seriously ,it goes on regardless of rank , it cant be stopped , while theres a will , the only way to stop it is not have women in the theatre , not a good solution i know , but then , if they are not , its back to rape n pillage sarge ,its a hard thing to get around , the sex drive is very strong especially when the day may be your last , i agree with the comfort blankets or mobile brothels for the men ,but what of the women serving ?? to get pregnant deliberately to get out of theatre , both personel should be court martialled ,,condoms cost bugger all and should be used ,, when on our 1st tour of N/I we had organised disco,s with the local girls invited ( all vetted ) and i personally got caught 3 times one night in the early throws of lying my bollocks off and sprouting eternal love , now what was her name again , once in an ambulance , once in a shower , and once in the cookhouse , all by the same guy who has just sadly passed away , Sgt Wells RIP ol mate , i gave it up as a bad job after that, and went back to my 2 regulatory pints o beer and sulked

I'd require birth control and pre-deployment pregnancy tests for all deployed females. I don't mind a little stress relief,

Is it something specific to canadian forces? The British, going by the article, seem to be ok with it if it doesn't cross ranks.
