I give up!
Please ban all flags.
Can't annoy anyone, I presume, not even oneself!
I got this off another board i frequent, the English translation/summation is from the poster, but a direct link to the Dutch article is also provided, if anyone actually reads Dutch here, lol.
Dutch flag "insulting to Muslim immigrants", banned from Dutch schools
The Dutch have banned their flag, but I'm sure they'll be quite happy to wear the zunnar. (The zunnar, folks, was a cloth belt worn by dhimmis, to signify their inferior status.) From Rayra at LGF comes this:
In the Netherlands the national flag is now banned on most schools. If a student wears the national flag of his own country he will be suspended or expelled from school. The reason for this is that this provokes the immigrants (the muslims) and therefore it is considered discrimination if you wear your country's flag in your own country. Even people who have an bumpersticker whit the flag on their car are harassed and called a facist by the Muslims. Most schools also ban certain clothing like the Lonsdale brand and combat boots with white or red laces. This is also concidered a sign of racism. There are of course no restrictions for the immigrants on clothing.

Flag Ban is Widespread
More schools have banned the Dutch flag
In the Groene Hart School in Alphen on the Rhine the Dutch tri-color has been banned for a year. All social group identifications are banned there and any student who displays them is threatened with suspension. Nevertheless, students enter the school wearing and displaying the flag. Earlier this week, readers reacted furiously to flag-banning in the IJsselsteinse school, banned because it was feared it would provoke foreign students.
Loathed
A man told us yesterday that he is loathed by foreigners by foreigners and left-wing intellectuals because he drives around in a dark blue ex-military vehicle with a red, white & blue sticker on the back. "I get called a nationalist and a fascist. Perhaps they can make a list saying what Dutch can and cannot do", he sneers.
The Groene Hart School says it has adopted these measures because of the hardened climate of the school. Not only the flag, but the Lonsdale brand, red-laced boots, and bomber jackets are considered racist, according to the executive school board. A spokesman from the school said: "Sometimes there is a flash in the pan and we must react." According to the school, the students have no problem with the rules, but parents are upset their children cannot express their own identity. "Everything happens in consultation, but ban is a large word." The Rural Race Discrimation Bureau understands the schools, but thinks it has to make preventive bans more sensibly.

Those poor Dutch. They're all very nice people and their country is a very nice place. So sad they're becoming so radically politically correct. They're just emboldening certain extremists within their immigrant population.
Am out of town for a while and then have tons of work coming up at school. Will be back once that's all done.
Was it Confed that predicted The Netherlands would be the next Lebanon?

This boys and girls, college professors and terrorist apeasers is why I thank god every day that I am not European. Damn... I mean you can't get much worse then banning your own flag.

VVV, the Confederate Flag has been banned in the South....remember? To appease the Afro-Americans. It is not a national flag, but would it be remotely the same related issue?Originally Posted by Veni Vidi Vici

That hardly seems possible...
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot to appease your neighbor...History repeats itself again...
The ban on red-laced boots, bomber jackets and clothes with the Dutch flag is basically a ban on the neo-nazi skinhead uniform. There were similar bans in British schools during the 1970's when the fascist identity was popular among our more rebellious school children and more insecure adults. The "people" who get harassed by "immigrants" and "leftist intellectuals" for displaying Dutch flags on their cats are actually just one anecdotal person whom we know nothing more about.
I think its worth remembering that Europe has quite some experience with fascism and how it breeds given that it's been a feature of European history for a couple of thousand years in one form or another. It's as welcome here as muslim extremism is, not that you'll get that impression from extrapolations from ideological op-ed pieces such as this, especially when international prejudice is taken as a substitute for being informed about the more subtle aspects of what's going on. I know for a fact that Americans know what it's like to be on the receiving end of that sort of willful ignorance.
De Telegraaf is a traditional right-wing paper which often prints opinion pieces like this one. To put it in a context that American right-wingers would be able to identify with, it often takes similarly distorted interpretations of things like this to attack its ideological opposites rather like the Guardian does in Britain and Michael Moore does in the US.
