However, with all humility, I will state the Sharia, in its true form has some rules which are rather unfortunately harsh.

I wonder if a modified Sharia can be applied and be accepted!

If it can be, then so be it!

I find Turkey a great country with some excellent secular ways. I would feel very saddened if it became another Islamic country with repression like Saudi Arabia!

Please consider me as a well wisher of Turkey as enunciated by Ataturk!

in the matter of sharia,

i am always told by our scholars that islam is a religion of logic. Consequently i try to use my mind and scan my limited knowledge about islam and state this theory :

islam is have to be taken as a full package. a full concept of life for a moslem and for community. And the sharia is ONLY a part of it.

for exemple a word is meaningless untill you use it in a correct phrase.

another exemple:

in Quran theres a saying like:

"you can not sleep full(with food) if your neighbour is hungry"

in Quran God ordering us a to be a community tolerent, benevolent, respectful to each other, etc...

and if every rule in Quran is followed and enforced it have to be a perfect way of life.

and sharia have harsh ways because of this "percectness"

imagine this is a perfect life, everybody live in peace, everybody live in prosperity, everybody have sufficent wealth for himself and his family, theres no hunger, theres no crime, theres no bad things....and even though these

anybody have chance to live islam with all of his aspects...

so sharia rules are impracticable...

on the other hand in islam one of the real keys is "knowing himself", wisdom etc...

today we dont need sharia because we are not able to live islam with its full aspects...
