So, if the UN should decide on wars, where's the UN go-ahead for French operations in the Ivory Coast?

If the thread was about US corruption, I wouldn't feel comfortable bring up Indian corruption because the only reason I could see for doing so is to put you of the defensive.
Bravo, you hit the nail on the head!

The French are above the law.

Heck with the UN. I'm glad the French are at least doing something...

I would like to know the correct situation.

Did France go to Cote-d'Ivoire with a UN mandate?

If they haven't, then they are fighting on their own and damn them.

There is apprently a difference between Iraq and France's unilteral intervention in Cote-d'Ivoire.

    They never asked the UN.

For Iraq, the Coalition took the matter to the UN. If they hadn't, then there would be no question since it is the sole prerogative of a nation state to pursue war to further its national policy.

India went to the UN for Kashmir and the millstone hangs around. If we hadn't then it would not be such a stink as it is now.

If the Coaltion of the Willing went unilaterally, then it would be a different issue.
