I don't see why. Any negative associations would be made with Jade Goody and her cronies personally rather than the program, which is enjoying a surge in exposure.

It's all fascinating stuff. I love BB and all the reaction it provokes. I can imagine sitting on a couch on Mars entranced by the human race, with baying politicians and crowds burning effigies in reaction to some b!tshy remarks on a reality program.

This isn't some "unrepresentative" British "underclass" making "racist remarks". It's not even Xenophobia.

It's just too many girls in one place at the same time for too long, competing, hence resenting. Very quickly normal human group dynamics kick into action. It may start with a little resentment at -whatever, say the feeling that someone is imposing their habits. Camps form. The differences between the camps are identified and exaggerated and expressed. This comes out as poorly informed comments aimed at expressing resentment. The differences –whether in race/ nationality, or class, or appearance/ preferences whatever, are simply used as a means of ad hominem attack.

It’s not racism, it’s just bitshing. A woman like Shilpa would have been attacked by these girls in these circumstances even if she was Susan from Swindon, except they would have had to find something else to attack her for.

These girls are not an “underclass”. They form a solid part of the spectrum that is the British public and exhibit predictable behaviour. Not pretty. But it’s what BB is about. And I love it. Kudos to Channel 4; Don’t compromise. Ignore the silly reactions, which are just as ignorant as these girls.

Incidentally, this is a gift to Shilpa. Sure, she may win as a result. But even more so, she is set to become a star in the UK (even if she doesn't win). –As long as she keeps her dignity and avoids bitshing back or doing a Leo Sayer; the odd display of graceful distress will work wonders.

Not to worry the wife is in Singapore at the moment.

So, no matter what is your speculation, it is OK here.

Oh no, thats the fight between a believer and a kaffir. And ofcourse we Indians and Pakistanis love each other so much that we cannot possibly be seen together. This is almost always the case for 90% of Non British born Asians.

I see on my Regimental forum that one of the inmates called the mother of one of the contestants "White trailer trash" but that didn't receive much, if any, media comment. Funny old World..

That's because the notion of racism arose to protect minorities, specifically those historically oppressed by whites. As this label of victimhood never got extended to whites themselves, no liberal juices are stirred by prejudice against any white groups.

Personally I think it is a much ado about nothing affair.

The way I see it is that Shilpa can be at times somewhat too girlie for me, i.e., crying too much. She needs to stand up for herself and earn respect, not demand it and not engage in backtalking (which believe me, is very hard not to do when provoked). I have to admit I have not watched the show since it is aired in Britain so I may be off the mark.

I have encountered racism numerous times. Once I was called a "sand n!gger" at a hockey game. I just ignored him and got in his view and he couldn't do much especially when I told him that I would tell the guards who by the way were colored, what he had told me and see how they would react. He shut up real fast.

The point is, who gives a sh!t about being political correct. Let them say how they feel so we can easily judge them for what they are. For example, I wasn't offended when George Mitchell called an Indian American a macaca. I didn't know what all the fuss was about and thought way too overblown. Hell I even cuss at times using racial slurs although this was done in private and out of hearing. The thing is that those girls were aired 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so they had really no privacy at all. If you take away their privacy, then you cannot judge them at all because you are enjoying the luxury of privacy in which you can utter things that people may take offend at. It is one thing to utter a racist thing in public like at a speech like Micheal Something the Comedian who uttered the word "n!gger" in front of black people in a public crowd and another thing to utter that word in private with the expectations of being private. For the record, Micheal deserved everything he got thrown his way.
