These Human Rights organisations are quoted whenever it suits one's convenience and damned when it does not.

One has seen enough of this on this forum . One does not require to even post links to such ambivalent love/ hate relations with these organisations!

This interpretation of what is PACE of the Council of Europe, is inaccurate.

In the Council of Europe, the human rights issues are dealt on the case-by-case basis and by the Court of Human Rights only.

The decisions of PACE are purely political.

So, this time, no reason to manifest a dislike for human rights whatsoever.

I don't think anyone would be against Human Rights being applied.

However, the Human Rights organisations have to be fair. They are rarely fair. Some agenda or the other seems to be always playing in the background.

They will always highlight the 'errors/ failings/ atrocities' of the government forces but never of the terrorists and their brutal ways! Their excuse is that they have not been able to get the data owing to the 'disturbed' conditions!

They are a set of self publicists with nothing better to do!

Surely, if one looks at what’s going on at the UN, then the human rights is nothing, but a talk-shop. That’s sad

In the European arena the picture, however, is different. Court of Human Rights has a real judicial power, and that makes a difference.

Cases are being examined by judges. Judgements, including financial sanctions are being imposed upon the governments.

    Who cares about sanctions?

There are enough of examples which indicate sanctions have no value!

Sanctions have varying degrees of effectiveness. Important things can usually be obtained through third parties. Sometimes these third parties can be unreliable. We had problems with some LAWs that didn't quite work as advertised. One might infer the merchandise sold did not meet the implied quality control. How these US made restricted items made it into a sanctioned country is open to debate. I did hear there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth over this incident. I would have hated being the contractor on that deal!

That’s what Hitler said too in April 1923: “I should like to see the nation which would allow itself to be brought before this League of Nations Court in the case of a disagreement without external force.”
