    LPJ,
Start the threads if you'd like. Bluesman has posed some interesting questions. The fact that no one has answered his questions indicates that either no one has the answer or maybe that people are embarassed that women are given half the value as men, a concept at odds with modernity.

I don't accept Insomniac's version of Islam as being the mainstream definition; however, it also doesn't mean that Islam doesn't have its warts that need to be dealt with in order to move beyond the Middle Ages.

No, but in the context of the times we are living in, it is a fitting subject for discussion.
20 years ago it would have been political discussions that would have dominated. ie. Communism vs. Democracy and the like.

Am I inferior to a Muslim because I'm not one myself?

Are females of lesser value than males to Allah?

Then, square the answer with relevant references to the Koran.

My opinion of Islam is that it's intolerant and primitive, chauvanistic and aggressive. It's a dangerous cult that celebrates death.

Until it is reformed fundamentally and respects the rights of individuals, it must be seen as at least as inimical to human progress as any other backward-looking, bigoted and sociopathic 'ism' we've ever had to fight against.
1.No...Think about it this way, your a citizen of the strongest and richest nation on earth, if god had declared you inferior to muslims, wouldn't muslims be the most powerful and wealthiest nation in the world? God see's all mankind as equals, mankind is incapable of doing that however. If you read the Quran you will not find anywhere were god says muslims are superior people, you'll see god telling Muhammed to be wary of other people, not to listen to some people, ot to form alliances with others, all in context of what was happening in his life when those verses where revealed.

Inequality is what mankind has made, it happens all the time, we fight one kind and discover another. Typical example shia-sunni bullsh!t, why do they fight, over a political decision made 1400 years ago over who was going to take over after Muhammed died. God never decreed who should take over in the Quran.

2.No they are not. One reason i can say that is that depsite all the bullcr4p western women still turn to Islam, because they see it's real potential. Note women are oppressed in poor backward countries, muslim or otherwise. Only today in the western world are we seeing the full potential of the woman.

Common misconception about mistreatement of women in Islam are the way women have to dress, that is also ordered of men, to dress humbly. Women in Indonesia will see that differently to those in Saudi to those in south Africa to those in the balkans. It's dependent entirely on local culture. again the mistreatment is entirely a case of local culture and backwardness, just today they have islam as an excuse rather than blaming other things.

honour killings...women killed for the honour of a man, not because god asked for it, or demanded it or prescribed it.

It may have to do with in the military hierarchy one usually has a superior officer to whom he/she has to answer to.
Whereas the priest has an absentee Supreme Commander!

These are questions about religion which we are not supposed to answer. We can never answer them and are forbidden to think such things

Any dogma; be it political or religious, that prohibits you from thinking. Is in serious need of revision!

The questions that Bluesman posed are quite simple:

    1. Are men and women equal
    2. Are non-Muslims inferior to Muslims

Certainly, Islam is not silent on these issues, unless it is not mentioned in the Quran and Hadith and 1400 years of jurisprudence has not touched these subjects. Either you believe in what Islam has to say, you believe it but are conflicted with it, or you have something else to say.

You sound like a computer. Only that which is told to you can you execute. Are you a computer, or human? Is this a case of GIGO?

No one forbids me from thinking anything.

Seems to me a pretty good argument for not being so foolishly devout to the KooLAiD of your choice.

Well, i do run across individauls that TRY to keep me from saying what i think- or at least try to make me feel bad for saying those things.

It is the price one pays for being both blunt and honest.

No and no, from my point of view.

How Allah sees you, I won't comment on that. Thats for Allah to decide. Meanwhile you apply your knowledge and try to do it the best you can.

Hey a comparison was made repeatedly.

And we've covered how Mohammad cannot be considered as a pedophile, if yes to fit some sort of basic definition, but sinister it was not.

    Asim and Plat,
If women are not of lesser value, then why the double inheritance, double witness, and double compensation rules?

Again you're blaming ALL Muslims. Vast majority? Prove it. Grab any 10 Muslims on the street even if a simple majority (6/10) would be blowing up themselves then I'd rest my case.

Again the debate here is not of what they're doing, the debate is whether or not Islam is making them do any terrorism. We have the Quran. If you'd read the entire Surahs they're not talknig about gutting non-Muslims, instead its all only about self-defence.

You're jumping from issue to issue like clutching on to straws.
