yeah... but anyways some Muslim nations do have democracy. So it is not a slap in the face but giving people a voice.
The thing is that it allows people a voice against Islam and that is the slap in the face they are getting. A democracy set up by the US will definitly have freedom of religion. The Muslim countries democracies are based off the laws of Islam and those laws include giving the death penalty to those who leave Islam.

Christians say they are being displaced by Revenue Department

MULTAN: All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) has threatened to launch a protest drive against the revenue staff in Muzaffargarh district if they did not stop extortion from poor farmers.

Addressing Christian farmers of Chak Nos 547, 548 and 583 in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, MPA Naveed Amer Jeeva and Inayat Gill Parish said they would not let anyone to bother Christians and extort money from them. They said Christians were ready to pay taxes, but they would not pay a single penny as gratification. He said Christians had cultivated barren lands and made it arable with an effort of 35 years but now revenue staff was allegedly allotting the land to influential people on the pretext of adjustment. They alleged the officials had demanded bribes from Christians. They demanded proprietary rights be given to Christians in accordance to the instructions of the Punjab governor. Local farmers Chaudhry Siddique Masih, Ilyas Masih, Alder Emanuel, Sardar Masih and Wilayat Masih alleged that Tehsildar Rashid Khan and Patwari Qazi Imran were allegedly tampering with the record to show fertile land as barren and the land was being allotted to influential people. They said revenue officers had stopped Christians from wheat harvesting. Later farmers staged a demonstration and chanted slogans against the revenue staff. They threatened to observe hunger strikes in all major cities if their demands were not met.

Medical students complain of discrimination: A Students Action Committee, consisting of Ubaidur Rehman, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Akram, Hamza, Abdus Salam, Tahir, Amjad, Raza, Rizwan and Furqan have strongly condemned the discriminatory behaviour of University of Health Sciences and demanded a high level inquiry into the anti-Southern Punjab elements in the UHS. They demanded the rechecking of their exams otherwise they would be forced to launch an agitation. They said 107 students of the Nishtar Medical College failed the final professional examination. They said these students got good marks in practical and clinical examinations.

Karachi blast a US conspiracy against Islam: Visiting scholars of the International Khatm-e-Nabuat Organisation (IKNO) vehemently condemned the Karachi blast and declared it part of an American conspiracy to create instability in Islamic countries.

London-based Moulana Abdul Hafeez Maki told a press conference on Friday that the US government had asked its citizens not to travel to Pakistan just few days before the Karachi blast. He said American agents were involved in bomb blasts in Saudi Arabia because the US consulate in the kingdom had been closed down just a couple of days ahead of the blast. The war on terror is creating instability in Pakistan and Islamic countries to detract them from their commitment towards the supremacy of Islam. Regarding General Musharraf’s moderate views, Moulana Maki said, “If moderation means nudity and obscenity, then it is not moderation and we will not accept such ideas.” He said vulgarity had taken over the media nowadays. Moulana Maki added that the US and Europe were patronising a planned campaign against Islam, as they protect Salman Rushdi and the publishers of the caricatures of Holy Prophet (PBUH) in European newspapers. He claimed thousands of Christians had embraced Islam in France.

Former Auqaf administrator and wife laid to rest: Munir Ahmed Khan, the former administrator of Punjab Auqaf Department, and his wife, Dil Ara Begum, were laid to rest on Friday who had died in a road accident near Chowk Munda in Muzaffargarh district, when they were going to Mianwali to attend a wedding. Police said their car collided with a lorry while overtaking another vehicle on Thursday. They sustained life-critical injuries and were being taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan when they died. Their funeral was attended by a large number of people. staff report

No decrease in registration of false blasphemy cases

    By Mohammad Imran

ISLAMABAD: The legal committee of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has observed that there has been no decrease in the registration of fake first information reports (FIRs) in blasphemy cases, despite the appointment of a senior police officer to investigate such cases.

Consequently, the CII has postponed consideration on its legal committee’s recommendation that had called for an amendment to Section 156-A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) that deals with blasphemy case investigations.

“The CII committee in its review report suggested that the government should amend Section 156-A of the CrPC that authorised police superintendents (SPs) to investigate blasphemy cases,” sources told Daily Times.

The committee said that the law could not curtail registration of fake blasphemy cases since station house officers (SHO), responsible for registering FIRs in such cases, were often held hostage to the influence of local figures wishing to pursue their own agenda, sources said.

The committee recommended that anyone wishing to register a blasphemy case should file an application with the high court in the presence of four witnesses. It said that the court should decide whether a complaint was true, adding that it (court) should direct an SP to investigate the case if the plaintiff was right and punish him if he was lying.

Some CII members opposed the committee’s recommendations. Haji Hanif Tayyab categorically rejected them, saying that the committee had proposed a procedure that would delay the registration of blasphemy cases. The CII has decided to take up the issue again at its next meeting in June.

    Protecting minority rights

AT a minority rights conference held in Islamabad, various religious leaders once again made an impassioned appeal for the repeal of discriminatory laws like the one relating to blasphemy as these are often used to persecute minorities. Since the blasphemy law came into existence under General Ziaul Haq’s rule, it has largely been abused; often it has been used to settle scores. Thousands of innocent people (including Muslims) have suffered as a result of this law, whose complete repeal has been called for many times. However, those calls have been ignored by governments fearing a strong reaction from religious bigots. Not only do minorities justifiably feel that they have no legal protection, they are also victims of violence as was seen last year when a mob attacked churches and schools belonging to the Christian community in Sangla Hill, Punjab. Incidents like these reflect the rising bigotry and intolerance extremist religious groups are spreading against minorities. While it is unfortunate that there has been no enlightened movement to counter the militant resurgence, the minorities’ conference did speak about the importance of creating interfaith harmony, through a proper dialogue with all members of religious communities. This much-needed dialogue — similar to those taking place in the West — bridge gaps between believers of different faiths.

While interfaith discussions should be an integral part of bringing about a change, they amount to nothing unless backed by reforms in the existing legal system that discriminates against minorities. The decision to abolish the separate electorate system in the last general elections was a positive step that put an end to the marginalisation of minorities. The government needs to make more moves that bring minorities into the mainstream but to do so, it will first have to create an environment where minorities are assured that their rights and interests are fully protected.

Tronic has proven a valuable point. In Muslim religion, to divorce a wife, all you have to say is "Talaq" three times. Muslim men are trying there best across the globe to convert as many people to Islam. I am a Sikh, and I have seen Muslims work in trying to convert young teenagers to Islam. Some of the tricks are incredible. For example, a Muslim will wear a Kara, Sikh bracelet, to trick young Sikh girls in believing they are Sikh as well, then later force them to convert. I have a link below, warning all Sikh and Hindu girls to avoid Muslim converts. The link below includes a document scan.

If you're implying that that applies accross the board to all muslims then that's asking for trouble. There is some kind of news all the time of both hindu and sikh extremists but you still don't see anyone tarring everyone with the same brush do you? (Except for perhaps some of the more "enterprising" evangilical churches)

Im not talking about all Muslims, im just talking about the corrupt ones. Sorry, I understand that I did not express that before. Of course there are corrupt Sikhs and Hindus as well, but the topics not about them. If this thread was about another religion, I wouldn't be bringing about the topic of Muslims. Im expressing what other people think, and putting it in a apporpiate way. Ive seen my fair share of people expressing there radical views of other religions, so indeed i have seen the damage from the same brush.
