It was one of the regions that we had Tibetan revolt recently.
I hope that people In different ethnic groups can work together and help each other to overcome the current difficulty.

I didn't understand why the govement deploy so much CCP for this disaster yesterday, but today I think maybe the gov is right.
I watched the TV in the morning, and got the bad news, most aid workers can't reach to the epicentral area, and the news said that there are 5000 homeless in WenChuan county (epicentral area), and it is reported that the county should have about 100000 people. So where are the 95000 peoples? I can't image.
How about using some military helicopters? Is the real problem the inability to move specialized equipment in there?

Yes, as I know they try to use helicopters since the first day, but it is rain all the time, so they canceled the flight plan in that day. My father complained that CCP is not a qualified army.And it is reported that the specialized equipment is working now, but I don't know more information about those equipment. I envy the equipments in the U.S.

I am horrified to read about the extent of devastation! Ironically I was in Ahmedabad, India on a business trip when first news of Earthquake in China started coming in. It was in Ahmedabad I survived a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in 2001, and I can still hear the screams.
My prayers are with you. I pray that all WAB members are safe.
The local news here has said, about the military relief operation, that it's the biggest airlift operation in Chinese history.

I read an article today about a young girl, whose legs were trapped beneath the rubble and the only way they can save her is to amputate her legs right there at the site.They described her as being calm and stable. So horribly sad!

Speaking of floods, I heard on the radio today that they're worried about a dam that is cracked. Talk about insult to injury, sheesh.

I believe that there're quite a few dams, not just one, damaged by the earthquake. The authorities have gone to make sure the dams don't break and fix the cracks.

The blood donated by Beijing citizens has reached the city’s storage limit and the disaster area has got enough blood storage. The Chinese national healthy department asked people only to register for blood donation in case they are needed but not donate blood right now to prevent from wasting.

The army hopes to clear the road to Wenchuan County by Today.
China telecom is trying to restore the optical cable to Wenchuan County also by Today. A cell phone base station has been air dropped to Wenchuan County to restore the cell phone network.
Then, they can start the evacuation of the survivors there.
It is not the time to point finger yet. But the contractors and the construction companies of those school buildings as well as the building quality monitoring authorities need to give an answer about the construction quality.

That is certainly nice to hear.
I agree, we shouldn't be pointing fingers at times of crisis, we can find out who might be at fault later when everyone is safe first.
The suspicous amount of public buildings that fell shouldn't be ignored, but bringing this up now isn't a good idea. However, I do hope that certain failures be brought up eventually and not forgotten. I hope this disaster for all its misery at least serves as a catalyst for safer buildings even if just a little.
