Wow so many answers.![]()
Good questions bigfella!
I have been reading a literal wave of propaganda & self justification on the part of Chinese posters over the past week or so.
I have some simple questions, and I would like simple answers. No propaganda, no extended off-topic rants, just simple answers.
1) Last week a Chinese citizen was jailed for criticizing the Chinese government.
Chinese dissident jailed for subversive articles - World - smh.com.au
Why is this acceptable?
2) This week Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd gave a speech to students at Beijing University. It is believed to be the first time a speech has been given in Mandarin by a visiting Western leader. The speech was warmly recieved by the students. During the speech Mr Rudd made a mild criticism of Chinese behaviour in Tibet. As far as I am aware, at the time of my posting a full text of the speech has yet to be released in China. All that is available are quotes of selected portions.

Why is it that anyone in the free world can read the full text of a speech given in China in Mandarin, yet ordinary Chinese people cannot?
Why is it acceptable for the Chinese government to keep this or any other news from ordinary Chinese people?
3) Why does the government of China think its own people are so stupid or so dangerous that it will not permit the majority of them to read what they wish or say what they wish about their own country?

I don't get the point, does any Chinese who opposes the western opinion on Tibet issues and other issues in China has to(or must) be a supporter of Chinese goverment?
And my answers to these questions are simple: They(Chinese goverment) did it wrong.
no,it wasn't, even if it was , I can still view this thread without any difficulties
Im suprised that the People's Police State Security Bureau even allows them to access this forum at all much less then China related threads. If they ban Youtube and have a superstrong filter for Wikipedia then they would definately totally ban WAB![]()
Talk about propaganda, here's a video I recently found:
Massacres in Nepal
This video showed some Nepal polices were beating Tibet protesters with bamboo stick... and what did the subtitle said?"Chinese soldiers" "Massacres in Nepal"?Seriously, WTF?

Some party member will drop by and say, all they care about is food, shelter and education. They dont care about freedom or freedom of expression.
Thats going to be the answer for all your questions about the party's rule.

First, I'm Chinese, I'm a son of farmer. I believe in free mind, free speech and democracy. I think most of Chinese have the same kind of belief. Most of Chinese like me, who care about the country, have a question: How can China become a harmonious society.
When I read the history of the western world, i found the western countries was not a ideal world until recently(still have problem in some field). Through out history, the western people fight because of religion difference. They slave poeple, they robbed other nations, they massacre Jewess, they had racial segregation. Many people of UK are not hasted to claim "free Tibet", but just see how they hurt the Irish before.
What I get from history is a country needs go through a long period to achieve harmony.
Xunil,
I applaud your statements.
I have heard them many times in the past from Chinese posters on this board and others, however you have phrased them quite well and have really made me think long and hard.
I believe that my biggest problem with China is that, even as it is going through it's long period, it also demands to be a "front and center" major player on the world scene, especially economically.
However, it refuses to abide by the standards of the rest of the world, with regard to economics, political/religious freedom and business ethics and morality.
And this is why other countries, despite their past, have such unmasked contempt and fury towards China: They see a country that, for example, exports poison masquarading as food and medicine, but refuses, on the whole, to acknowledge the overall problem and take strong meaningful steps to correct it. Instead, preferring to point the finger at other countries and point out their problems.
As people on this board know, I have frequent business dealings with companies in the People's Republic and I am constantly amazed and disgusted by the commonplace lack of - actually contempt for - ethics, scruples and morals. The idea of cheating Westerners, particularly Americans, is a great big joke to them, something to brag about.
I could go on and on here but there's very little point to repeating myself (again).
Once again, I sincerely applaud your thoughts and attitudes. I dearly wish that more of your countrymen shared them.
China deserves to be a great nation. Unfortunately, it's long road to harmony is being protracted by her very leaders and citizens.
