The Dalai Lama has said that it is right that China got the Olympics and it should go on.

    Indeed, it should.

And it is typical of China to WARN.

They cannot understand or allow dissent.

They can only rule with regimented minds, conditioned like the Pavlovian dogs and operate a Police State like Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four.

It is humorous to equate India's human rights record with China, Russia, Iraq, Sudan or even Zimbabwe.

The very fact that one knows what is happening in India indicates the freedom that prevails.

If only such freedom was there with the others mentioned, then and then alone, one could compare!

    Otherwise, it is Grimms!

Or better still Baron Münchhausen (one of the most famous book of tall tales)

Heh, was trying to throw a respectful demo country in there to further my point, but it didn't quite work out the way I had hoped lol

Hmm.. Yes, watched a bit of it, got bored. Shows the usual portrait of India; Three brothers in India, meeting half naked people, running around in mud houses.. couldn't last watching the movie for 5 mins. But if it is truly that good, then will watch it all this coming weekend.

There was a report on the News Channel here that Indian shooters are threating to boycot the games. Not because of Tibet, but because they don't get enough ammunition to train.

Wait, your telling me people they're are not half naked????? LOLLL im jokin

I honestly didn't notice any of that stuff you mentioned. I actually fell in love with India from watching the movie. If I ever had the money, i'd do the exact things those 3 brothers did hehe, train ride all around India and stopping here and there and visiting temples and what other sorts of adventures one may be invited too The train hostess guy was the best loll

I'll save the spoilers, you have to be an owen wilson fan to really appreciate the comedy.

    I haven't seen the film.

Darjeeling is in my State and it is in the hills (6000 ft), It is a tourist town and inhabited by Gorkhas. Technically, the weather is not conducive to move around half naked or fully naked.

Plains India is hot and humid in summers. The western tourists prefer to wear the minimum of clothes and in trains, one does see western tourists half naked.

Unlike the west where not wearing a shirt or socks was taken as naked, in India, in the olden days, it was not uncommon to see people without a top covering and at best a light cotton shawl or a loose fitting shirt worn outside called ''kurta'' by Indians except Benglees and East Indians, who call such shirts as ''Punjabi''.

The priest class in temples do not have top covering and are half naked as you say.

It would be amusing to see a westerner prancing around temples half naked in case you wish to come to India and try to do as the Romans do. They might even take you to be gay and make a proposition! Lest you misunderstand, homosexuals are there all over the world and India is no exception. A foreign gay would obviously be a catch for them. Just thought I should add this in case you take back an adverse opinion of India.

So, take care and come well clothed and if you are visiting temples it would be better if you wore flip flops since you have to take off your shoes. Taking off laced shoes and socks can be a real bother.

I am yet to see a train hostess. I am sure that will be great.

Transportation is cheap when converted in Western currency. I believe US $ 1 = Rs 43. A trip by air from Kolkata to Delhi would be Rs 3000 at best and Rs 700 or so by train in the lowest class.

    Welcome to Incredible India!!

A catch for specifically who sir? Are you hitting on me? :P

I believe the plane ride to India is a fortune, and on top of that one must be able to have enough cash for food/alcohol/hotel/alcohol/presents/alcohol. The train they were on had a firstclass/VIP department, so that also adds to the bill. A train ride from Toronto to Calgary is easily over $150, and thats the average I believe.

I've got the trailor for you and you can take a look for yourself:

Sadly true, all other sports, except for Cricket, seem to be neglected big time in India. Though the Indian Football team's captain, Bhaichung Bhutia refused to carry the Olympic torch.

    Thanks for the trailer.

I could just about catch a glimpse of a part of the train compartment. That is not the luxury train that ply on the Rajasthan route. The luxury train are modified saloons of the ex Princes and are very plush and 7 star!! Tickets are sold only on foreign currency!

The plane ride costs economy class from Toronto to Delhi is $1500.

Hotel: be a backpacker. May cost $ 10 a day. Eat in any of the Indian style burger joints - moving food stalls. Have a Chicken Roll, Mutton Roll, Egg Roll or whatever. Very filling.

If you come to Calcutta, consider that you are my guest and so it will be free.

As far as the catch part of it, I just was giving a travel notice! )

As far as the trailer goes, if I were a CCP member, I would say false and viscous propaganda laced with webs to lies to down down the Progressive, Beautiful Nation of History and Heritage that goes behind the Birth of Civilisation and a Tribute and the Salute to the Toiling Masses and the Patriotic Proletariat of the Unbeatable and Incredible India!! )

BTW, Darjeeling is in the Hills in Bengal and not in the Deserts of Rajasthan!!

Bon Voyage. Bon Apetit. Or, whatever the French say.
