Here we go , out come the septics and de,bunkers, de,fibrilators de,stabalisers , and all the other D,s , why is it that people can not accept that MAYBE we are not just the B all and end all of life in the universe , in our galaxy alone there are over 400 billion stars , google the drake equation and The Milky Way , where we live, to find out how many COULD have planets that COULD have life as we know it and which could be far far technologicaly superior to us ( yes i know , they may not be as well ) the universe and space is infinite is it not (and expanding so im told ) , and with infinite galaxies , so that = lots n lots n lots n lots , in fact quite a few actually the ESTIMATES are at 750 billion to ONE trillion solar masses in the Milky way alone , and its 100.000 light years across , and we are only one of infinite galaxies , as Hubble is still pointing out and coming up with more and more surprises , and i for one (ONLY MY OPINION) dont think that all the majesty and wonder of the universe is for little old Planet screwed up , called Earth , to stare up at , why is it that when prominent people ( even a US president ) of good stature say they have seen SOMETHING they can not explain , and by that definition it becomes a UFO , of course that is not to say its an alien craft ,, but maybe , maybe and then out come the earthbound , im right Mr Blind Pew , you only saw Venus skimming over the tree tops types while being persude by Fighter Jets , take the piss and , de,bunk . What are they afraid of ??????????????? answers on a post card please . )

Well it is a UFO, since no one has identified it. Sadly UFO has become to mean "alien" when really it just means what the name says, Unidentified Flying Object.

I would be somewhat amazed if we are the only intelligent and creative beings in the universe and statistics as Tankie says imply we are not. However statistics don't mean we would get visited.

Even allowing for our limited scientific understanding the sheer scale of the universe makes travelling anywhere a hell of an endeavour. Couple that with the time dilation effect of travelling at speed (it may take you a couple of years to get somewhere but in that time your planet and your destination planet have aged thousands) may mean that you have to use generational travel. I.e. we set off, breed along the way, and our descendants get there.

On that basis the aliens are either very much more longer living than us (by an order or two of magnitude), or for some reason lose the whole mission objective that so many of their forebears dedicated their lives to. They only have to hover over Trafalgar Square or the Houses of Parliament (avoiding Torchwood of course) and their work is done, they can then go off and do whatever it is they do when they aren't annoying some drunken redneck in the middle of some forest (as seems to be their hobby).

Einstein said the speed of light was a natural limit that could not be exceeded. Has anyone proved him wrong? If they haven't the voyagers may have to travel for thousands or many millions of years to reach us at light speed. They would have to be especially hardy to tolerate the acceleration forces, and the somewhat trickier deceleration forces. A few questions. Why should they come so far? If as the usual crowd claim, this happens frequently why have we no irrefutable proof of their visits? (In fact one would do) Why are they attempting to conceal themselves from us whilst remaining visible to the gullible chattering classes? The number of stars in the universe means nothing. They are all suns on which nothing lives.
On the other hand we have Unexplained Upper Atmosphere Phenomena. The term UFO is meaningless. Why 'Flying'? Sprites move in the upper atmosphere. They do not fly.

I'd like to add some stuff, but I hope I don't get lambasted for it

Maybe they have, but governments are in cahoots with each other and just hide it from the general public. Can you imagine the fear or anxiety that it would bring to the general public if they were told "we've had communications with the extral terrestrial"
Another one is our weapons systems are soo advanced compared to the Aliens they're afraid to communicate. They might have advanced Space programs, but not weapons. Make sense? No idea. Or they just keep coming back to see how we're growing incase we become a threat to them.

It always amazes me that with lens technology, there is never a clear picture or video taken, the vast majority are questionable to say the least. Just one other thing..if the Universe is expanding, what is it expanding into

Edited: (realizing this isn't making fun of me) Sir, do you think they have tried? You know how many times it was reported in the past some odd years that a comet/asteroid was coming our way? But it never ended up even close to us? Maybe like a drunk terrorist shooting, but missing his target (earth)

A lot easier said than done. In order to have the big rock hit us, so many variables has to be done right and is a very tall order. Same thing when we try to move the big rock out of the way that is coming at us.

if one takes a laser pointer(10mw or higher) it and shines it at clouds, it will look like something out of this world.
i think avarige citizen doesn,t know all posibyilities of terrestrial tech. what would a person from 1800 think if he saw a helicopter? or modern jet? pbly aliens.

That ain't enough to take out the human civilization. At best, it would take out several city blocks. If you wanna take out human civilization, you have to use a mile long asteroid. That, my friend, is very and extremely hard to move.

A dinosaur killer is hard to move but we're talking here rocks the size of cars. If they can move a space ship across entire galaxies and bullseyed us on earth, then, moving a rock a few 1000 kms to a specific city ain't no sweat.

    True.

Also, witnesses say the spaceship was a mile long!! Imagine how much bigger it coudl've been if it was closer

It was seconds long and the dream was that I woke up in bed and looked off the right bedpost at the foot of my bed and there was an alien there looking at me. He looked like he was old but it mas more a feeling of him being ancient.

He looked at me I looked at him then I woke up in a cold sweat and didn't sleep right for a month.

I was 14 and that was my one and only nightmare I've had ever. Scared the crap out of me but I'm sure it was a dream. I damn well hope so anyway just thinking about it now gives me the creeps.
I asked my dad when I was 11 or 12 what he'd do if he ever saw an alien standing beside his bed... he said he'd punch it in the face.

It may be possible to distort the space time fabric. The theory is that it may be possible to bring two points of space-time together and jump across them.
