engineers, in general, deal with rational issues, science
PC, deal with people and politics.

As a side note, from my experience, engineers with a MBA degree can command a high pay because few good engineers have people skills nor want to go into management.

The good Colonel mentioned you work(ed?) for Lockheed Martin, I believe? If you work(ed?) at Bethesda, you can confirm/deny my personal observaion: About half the EEs who graduated with me ('06) and still working near the Beltway are either doing their MBA or Professional Engineering (60% Engr, 40% BA)!

Now I should perhaps clarify my observation about engineers in Asia: The really serious, long-term dedicated, research-oriented engineers still conform to the stereotype almost everywhere of being apolitical-types. The observation is more applicable to the day-to-day engineers, who constitute the vast majority of the engineers world-wide.

to answer your question, I worked in their west coast sites and spend some time in Philly.

I need to search on this topic but from my personal exp and what my friends told me, getting a MBA is easier than a PE. I sold out I took the MBA path and please don't tell my friends? ok? The fact is, I have no touch real engineering work for sometime now.

Hard to tell now a day, as many Asian engineers are returnees from the US and they adopted a different path in their world view. The internet (especially forums) helps to bring out different views too and allow them to keep intouch with the latest development. There are nerds to be sure, but many educated engineers that I know personally do have strong views and well-informed.
