Chechen War: is it over?

I ran into this article today: Новости NEWSru.com :: В Грозном обстреляна машина с милиционерами - один убит, двое ранены

It's in Russian so here's my translation: ''In Grozny, recently unknown people have open fire at a Russian police car. As a result of the attack one police officer has died, and two others were injured. The incident occured in the October region of the Chechen capital. Fire was opened from a ruined building.

The last such incident took place on the night of October 16th. The in the Lenin district of the Chechen capital a police patrol was fired on by auto-matic weapons. One of the four police officers was injured. The attackers fled.

The fact that the situation in the country is unstable is characterized by the fact that several groups of insurgents were found in the republic. Like this, on October 9th in a forest on the outskirts of Zhani-Vedeno, of the Vedenskiy region, there was a fire fight between MVD forces and an insurgent group numbering around 20.

As a result of the firefight one MVD trooper died, and another one was injured. Response fire killed two of the insurgents. The rest fled.

The Chechen government has long since said that the situation with insurgent groups is under their control, but this is not the case. In September, president of the Republic, Ramzam Kadyrov, offered his help to neighboring Ingushetiya, where attacks against civilians and police officers have become more common.''

What do you guys think? Will be back tomorrow with more articles.

Новости NEWSru.com :: Перестрелка в горах Чечни - убит один боевик

A firefight in the Chechen mountains - one insurgent killed

''In the mountains of the Chechen republic, as a result of a firefight, one insurgent was killed, ''Interfaks'' was informed by an MVD official. Late at night near middle school number 2, that's located on the outskirts of Dargo, there was an encounter between member of the police regiment, named after Ahmad Kadyrov, under the command of the MVD, and a group of insurgents.

On his words the insurgents opened fire from automatic weapons approximately for 15 minutes. During the chase and search for them around Dargo, the firefight resumed for another 15 minutes.

On the information of the MVD of the Chechen republic, the insurgent group was scattered in the ensuing chase, and a male corpse was found, that allegedly belongs to a citizen of Dargo, who is known to be an active participant of insurgent formations.

There were no casualties among the police forces. The search for other insurgents continues.

Also in the Vedenskiy region of Chechnya, in the town of Hattuni, during an address check, an local citizen, who was born in 1985, was arrested as a member of illegal insurgent groups, which are supposedly commanded by a certain Hussein.

The arrested allegedly took part in providing the insurgents with food, supplies, and information on the movement of federal troops and police forces. He also assisted the safe movement of insurgent groups, MVD sources say.''
