You guys are talking about the punk rock scene over in Europe and Australia.

Some of these people are left-wing activists, some are just troubled kids.

It would be a huge, vast waste of time to consider them terrorists in the same vein as Al-Queda and have governments investigate them and such.

Calling them terrorists is a joke, Anarchism is just a political ideology, not a dceclaration of lawlessness and violence. Squatting is what homeless people do, some of those are kids who are into anarchist ideology/far left activism, into punk rock/metal music subculture.

I think a big reason why there is a lot of squatting is just that in post-communist countries a lot of buildings fell in ruin.........some people decide to reclaim and rebuild these things for the most part. Most countries including the US have areas of urban decay and a substantial homeless problem and squatting is not uncommon in many big cities, probably more under the radar over here.

It's hard to blame these people as wasters on welfare as they are actually trying to do something to improve their situation........would you actually prefer them to get public housing(section 8, in America) or actually taking it upon themselves to make an otherwise condemned/abandoned structure livable? with such a home you can get a job, you can actually own stuff, save money....and all the rudimentary stuff to be a member of society again.

It's hard to blame someone who takes it upon themselves to do something about being homeless.

I myself, have been to a few in NYC about a decade ago, it's funny this is being discussed here of all places............because most people involved in the process of shutting these kinds of buildings down just simply site fire hazards, building codes as the main reasons why to evict and close down these squats or that the property has been purchased for redevelopment.

.....never because these people were viewed as some sort of threat, unless you consider harsh, noisy, loud fast-paced rock and roll music a form of terror.

Yeah as someone with a lot of personal experience with such types, I'd argue that the great majority aren't any more dangerous than your garden variety juvenile delinquent. While it is fair to say that there may well be similar mentality between your common criminal, anarchist trouble-maker and AL-Qaeda suicide bomber (sense of marginalization, rejection of accepted social values, desire for belonging fulfilled by membership of radical group/criminal gang/terrorist organization) simply put these groups are by and large small, disorganized and lacking in real commitment towards their so-called revolution. Besides classifying them as terrorists would be something of a badge of honour, rather than being common criminals they would be able to call themselves enemies of the state.
