Singapore Set to Acquire Refurbished Leopard Tanks from Germany

The Singapore Ministry of Defence and the German Federal Ministry of Defence intend to agree upon the sale of Leopard 2A4 tanks from the German Armed Forces to the Singapore Armed Forces.

The acquisition package will consist of 66 refurbished Leopard 2A4 tanks together with 30 spare tanks and supporting equipment. Training on the Leopard tanks will be provided by the German Army.

This acquisition underscores the good defence relationship between Germany and Singapore.

Wow, that's a lot of heavy tanks for a small city-state.

these will replace the 150 x "unofficial" Tempests sitting around in strategic locations.

I'm surprised that they made this public. nobody in govt talks publicly about their tempests so as to not upset the neighbours

thats true, but you can still effect a transfer of assets without making lots of noise.

we've provided singapore with tech in the past with minimal airplay.

its not easy to hide 150 x MBT's for over 20 years. Out of sight and out of mind.

You will find that quite a few will make their way to Australia.
