Osirak and Kuwait
Had Israel not bombed Osirak into oblivion and prevented Iraq from being able to obtain nukes in the 1980s, would the US have intervened in Kuwait in 1990/1991?
Some food for thought re: today's debate over Iran and nukes. I think that this example brings some reality and something tangible into the debate - what do you guys think?

You'd have still gone to war, King general and Bush Chemists sing "Money Run tings", for the US market it should be altered to oil run tings.
Saddam Hussain could have held your economy to hostage, middle east aside the next big oilt hing is Russia, did you want Russia of the 90's in a position to deman it's prices for oil from you? No way will the US let it's economy be held by the balls, no self respecting super power would, i mean you'd have to be pretty stupid to allow that. |

No, if Saddam had nukes the only way to neutralize his forces would be with nukes. I'm doubtful anybody in power anywhere, except Kuwait and where ever else Saddam decided to invade, would be willing to stop him then...
