A Unruley Dog

OK so we have a problem in Iran. They are nuts. The idea of Iran not just wanting to have nuclear technology is profoundly scary. If this was but for generating power for their country then I personally would not care, but this is Iran and they are nuts. Their leadership claims this to be so and also do not wish to allow the Russians to do the enrichment process for them is a good clue to what they truly want. A Nuke. So you have to look at who were dealing with . A leader who calls for the destruction of Isreal. This is also the same person who says the atroscities of WW2 never really happened. So Iran continues to bark . lets face reality. Economic santions never work. The U.S. has had santions against Iran since another nut ran the country. remember him? Ayatullah Ruhollah Khomeini. These santions did not work then and will not work now. What did work is a big stick. Khomeini knew Reagan would not play the Peace games that President Carter would play. President Reagan made no bones about it. He would get our People back. Now here we are not with people being held hostage but with the security of not just the U.S. but the security of anyone who wants peace at stake. Sadly this means you have to hit hard from the get go. to deal with a unruley dog you must hit him. Well this is no different. We have the troops in the region and can take action , contrary to what the talking heads in DC think. The size of Iran's military is not that big of a issue. They , like Iraq, are a poorly trained military. This can be seen by the history of the Iran/ Iraq war. With our Nato allies in tow, the operation can be a success. But you must be able to keep the intestinal fortitude to follow this through to the end. Always remember, Tactical nukes are a option if any chemical biological or nukes are used. Though China and Russia may object, they will go along if they believe the price of oil will come down in the end. As far as Pakistan and the rest of the middle east go , they may protest out loud, they will be breathing easier just knowing that they are safer without a barking dog in the neighborhood.

Hi Trucker,

Iran and Afghanistan are not exactly stable or strong.

Any war with Iran is going to leave that state in a bit of a dissarray most likely and have some potential for a degree of blowback and spillover in neighboring countries.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a belt of weak and/or unstable regimes from the Syrian border all the way to the Western border of China is not going to promote low price or low volitilaty in the oil markets.

Military action may prove neccessary against Iran but it is a risky proposition under the best of cirumstances. Given the situation as it stands, I am of the opinion that the near future is not a very auspicious time to engage in such activity.

Regards,

William
