What about the Iraqi tribes fighting against AQI? Is this not speaking out? What about the Jordanians that spoke out by the bushel (and it made it into the Western press) a over a year ago when AQI bombed a Jordanian wedding? What about the dozens of fatwas posted online in English that would take an enterprising person 5-10 minutes max to find? The truth is that many moderate Muslims do speak out (and there's enough out there in English for those who don't speak the standard tongue of Islam, Arabic). The question is whether folks want to hear the same or if they want to believe all Muslims are either evil or complicit because of closed ears or closed minds.

Because christians are looking for a way to defend against it? Or because many western governments see Islam as a threat? Or maybe because Middle Eastern and North African immigrants are eroding European culture? (and give it 50 more years and Europe will be hell).
EDIT: Just for clarification, as I've noticed, in this forum people assume that because you said something it represents your views. This does NOT represent my views, atleast not directly. |

I definitly cannot blame the Europieans for fearing their beloved Europe to be middle easternized .. for the lack of a better word.
I never been in England, though I would love to go there for one week, do a south-to-all-the-way-to-Scapa-Flow where the Royal Oak is resting. But the thought of my imaginery foggy London (from movies and books and Shelock Holms and Poirot) being turned into a Asian city is not a pleasant one. But really, i doubt that either the Algerians nor the Indians tought of the idea of being an imperial subjects of Paris or London as a pleasant one, either.

I've not read this whole thread. Perhaps you've gone way beyond that front page stuff. Just wanted to interject that I think religion is not a cause of violence, but rather is prone to use as a justification for it. (Economics being the underlying motivator in all but the most extreme fanatic.)

Hmmm?.......

Christians have been the majority in America for quite some time. I haven't seen the dreaded "cut and break" you speak of. There have been the occasional loon that has entered the ranks though. The percentage of just out and out crazies that claim no Christian affilliation is so much greater that "cut and break" Christians is a moot point and a small abberation. But us Christians are held to a much, much higher standard than the rest this is true. Ivan |
