I'm not that brave Sir. I leave the checking of Scottish underwear to foolhardy RSMs. I suspect the theory is that if they can deal with that then charging an enemy position is a piece of cake. Besides, I'm irish. The sound of bagpipes & the sight of a sporran has long been a signal for us to take to the hills (or perhaps the far side of the world ).

You do know the Irish had bagpipes and kilts. Why do you think it took so long for the English to conquer Ireland and even then, they had to bribe the Scotts to do it ... and the Scotts only done it to kill the rumour the Irish can outdrink the Scotts ... which is a rumour of course.

    Anyone try Irish whiskey? Blehhhhhhh!!!!!!

Hey, I happen to be a fan of Irish whiskey. I've got 2 bottles of Scotch on my shelf in my apartment, but I happen to really like the Bushmills single malts

You will have to excuse me OOE, Some of us like gasoline instead of turpentine. Jameson is rather nice as well as Irish Mist. There are a few others.

all i got out of this thread was that OoE wanted to see Scots in underwear.
The human mind cannot grasp the causes of phenomena in the aggregate. But the need to find these causes is inherent in man’s soul. And the human intellect, without investigating the multiplicity and complexity of the conditions of phenomena, any one of which taken separately may seem to be the cause, snatches at the first, the most intelligible approximation to a cause, and says: “This is the cause!"

He's actually demanding to see it. Not being privy to a collection of swinging Jock photographs I will leave this to BF to sort out.

On a more serious note, I wonder if the Aussie government should be careful about recruiting to many trained Kiwi soldiers. There seems to me to be the risk that a New Zealand government will cite it as a contribution to the ANZUS alliance and use it as an excuse to cut defence spending even lower than the current 1 percent of GDP.

What exactly is Australia recruiting? If like Canada, you're recruiting Officers, University degreed NCMs (in fact I know 2 PhDs who refused to take their commissions and stayed CSMs), then, they are automatically enroute to becoming Australian citizens.

Any chance of recruiting commissioned officers from the Indian Army? We like curry and would surely spice up the Aussie Army.
