Too bad the allowance is so little!
Is it just in India or do militaries wordwide have the same problem of paying paltry sums as pensions ? BTW, the Brigadier has finally decided to put up an avatar for himself. Cool! The Colonel should get one too. ![]() |

There is a story behind why I put up the avatar i.e. Rommel.
Right from childhood I wanted to join the army, but I had one weakness - I loved to sleep late. One day, my father saw me reading about the exploit of Rommel. I told him with great pride that he was known as the "Desert Fox" and that I wanted to be a "Desert Fox" too! He merely smiled and said, "Sure, you can be another "Desert Fox", but first of all, you have to shed your avatar of "The Sleeping Fox"! |

A short description of the Crest:
The crest has two Vicker Machine Gun barrels crossed. From either side emanate the tripod with the third leg below the crossed barrel. From the centre of the crossed barrel going upwards is the "katar" (a dagger). It used to be the pillar of Koregaon (where the British Bombay Presidency army composed of Mahars and British officers defeated the Marathas). On top written in Devnagiri script are the words "Yash Siddhi" (Fame and Honour). Below is the words "Mahar Regiment" written in Devnagiri script. (The badge currently on display here is the older version). Last edited by Ray : 11-13-2005 at 04:08 AM. |
