Because in civil sector of economy it is possible to make business. Young people did not go and do not go in army for the same reason. They consider, that two years of service in Army do not stand used time.
All mutual relations in Army and between Army and civil sector have been spoiled by economic reforms. You think, if all economic relations in America have changed for one day. Therefore there was such situation in the Chechen Republic in the first campaign.

I communicated with some officers from 131 brigades of the city of Maikop. Them have sent there to not be at war, and to put things in order police measures. Simply the presence. They did not prepare for war. But when they have got under fire, began to be at war desperately, but almost all were lost. These losses in a peace time (we are able to not war legally, a troops constantly constrained orders on defense) to demoralized army. But soldiers did not escape almost. They have quickly learned, that almost always Chechens of them kill.

It is because you haven't served that you don't know what you're talking about. You're going to serve in the IDF, right? Great, when you can call in an A10 24/7, then I'll tip my hat to you but you won't, least of all because the IDF don't have them and a recruit can't call in crap from the AF.

The A10 is very limited in its deployment and in its role. Otherwise, every country would have them and every FOO would be training with them. They haven't and they won't. For whatever reason, all NATO FOO, including those of the US starts with guns and stays with guns, few would have the chance and the oppertunity to go with the A10, fewer constantly.

For those reasons, claiming the A10 as the King of the Battlefield shows ignorance.

I already pointed to you that large formations survived air strikes and still was combat capable. Quite a few were hit by A10s.

Only ONE A-10 two-seater was ever manufactured.

Normally BR, all a grunt will have that he can call himself is arty/mortars(and it will be his Lt/Plt Sgt/SL calling em, or an FO, not the enlisted grunt himself unless everyone else is dead).

All TACAIR is doctrinally employed by FAC-A/G-FAC USAF personnel or 'commando' types.

Artillery isn't called 'king of the battlefield' for nothing though.

Historicly, 85% of all casualties in war are caused by artillery.

Of course, that being said, if i had CAS on hand(admittedly rare- which non combat MOS veterans seem to have a hard time believing- there is ALWAYS a shortage of CAS), and was facing armor, there is nothing i'd rather have than a four ship of Hogs loaded with party-mix and mavs/cbu's.

On the other hand, artillery is plentiful, and fast to react to a RFF.

CAS is great, but the vast majority of the time, you will have only arty/mortars at your disposal.
