As for the Warthog .... it was destroyed about 15 of such planes during the Gulf War ... just for the compare: Russians lost 13 planes (some was the new Su-25s) only after the 8 years of battle! Most of them was destroyed by "Stingers" ... of what kind of superiority you talkin' about...goddammit! Don't care

Here are some stats on the info from the last Gulf War...

Only 2 A-10 Worthogs were damaged, and one was able to return back to base. The other one that was shot down the pilot was recovered. It was shot down by a Roland Missile.

A total of 4(not 15 dumbass) A-10 Warthogs were shot down during the Gulf War. Three of the four pilots ejected and became POW's. The fourth went down with his aircraft providing Close Air Support to another downed A-10 pilot. Another two were destroyed during emergency landing, and one of the pilots died.

Total Lost during both Wars: 7

The A-10's in the first Gulf War alone were responsible for over 1000 tank kills.

I should know I go to a Catholic school(I am an atheist though) but I don't pay much attention.

maybe only 7 were downed, although i could argue that more were downed.
but that is mainly due to the inefficiency of the iraqy SAM system.
there were a lot of planes downed over vietnam and that was because the vietnamese have established a descent SAM cover.
and comparing guld\f war to afghanistan is two different things, hte afghanistan campaign has lasted over 9 years while the two gulf war campaigns lasted about 8 months in total.

During Vietnam you had these long range SAM's but you didn't have things like the HARM. You could also hide your missiles under the cover of trees because the IR sensors were did not even begin widespread use in the Military.

The NVA/VC could take on Brigade and sometimes Division size levels where the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan could only take on Battalion and Below.

The only thing that Mujhadeen had was AAA and Stingers, even comparing them to Iraq is rediculus let alone the NVA/VC nutbags.

I have lost my patience and I have posted some rather harsh words for which I am sorry. It is my belief that banning these members will prevent myself and perhaps other members as well from losing control.

the NVA unlike their Arab counterparts have mastered the use of SA2 missiles. not only did the foilage help them but they also devised new tactics, and unlike the Arabs in 1967 - 1973 conflicts didn't sh*t their pants and run from their SAM installations.
for example one of their tactics was to turn off their radars when the first wave of Weasels went past, then they would open fire with one salvo at F4 Fantoms and turn off their radars so the missile lost guidance, therefore only the targeted F4 could detect it for a short period of time while the above flying armadaof B52's would not know of SAM activity.
when the Fantom would think that a SAM was fired at him, it would decrease altitude and the NVA would engage it with Anti Aircraft Artillery, like the ZSU 23. When the B52's would pass overhead, they would open fire with several salvos of SA2's and bring them down as a result.
so it was not only the jungle foilage that gave them the advantage it was the tactics that the NVA employed. the one stated above is just an example of a wide array of tactics employed by the NCA AA squads.

Thoose tactics wouldn't have done shit in Iraq because we could see everything on the ground with Satilites, JSTARS, Predators, Global Hawks, Infrared sensors, and the like. The war in Vietnam was very long and they began to learn our tactics so they had time to make some up to couter ours. We hit Iraq so hard they didn't have a chance, they didn't know what was going on.

Oh and only 10 B-52's were shot down during the war, I believe most of them were during Operation Linebacker. There were AT LEAST 100 B-52's in theater at the time.

According to this topic general theme I should say that T80 is much stronger and accuracy then Abrams. But M1 is more comfortable for crew.

I beg that you look at the RHA ratings on the M1 Abrams which are vastly supperior to the the T-80U with K-5 2nd Generation ERA. Please also look at the fact that the Night/Day optics are supperior on the Abrams then on the T-80U. The Abrams also has better ammunition and a supperior main gun. And here is the real kicker the Abrams is more comfortable and it has better trained crew.

OH AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS...
