That's probably the idea? A few years back someone on tank net attended a defense industry event and BAE (IIRC) showed a Brad which is wired to multiple cameras to enable the commander to stay buttoned up at all times. God forbid if someone throw so much as a hand grenade at it.

I think you'll need a lot more than a 360 degrees vision via LCDs and cameras.
Objects from a camera are far more difficult to differentiate from back ground due to the clarity, resolution, and loss of depth of view.

F-35 paints nearby aircraft with color coded arrows and highlights, the tank will need to do the same, to be able to tell the difference between a vehicle, and background clutter.

Sorry, took me long enough to respond. I agree... resolution is another problem that were pointed out by professionals, that combat soldiers *usually have at least average or above average eyesight which beats most cameras that the military could reasonably afford or small enough to be put around a vehicle. Clutter on the ground is far more confusing to a machine then the sky...

Isn't increased automation a step towards drone tanks?

Naw, a drone tank would need the AI to negotiate land obstacles, ID friend from foe, engage with appropriate weaponry etc. All of which are far beyond what current gen. of AI is capable of. If the robots are coming, land warfare will be the last to go cybernetic. And when that day comes, there shall be world peace as Skynet will kill us all. =P
