It isn't an amphibious vehicle. It's a light armored vehicle, yes, used in front line combat.

They are more resiliant than a Humvee and I'm sure the troops would rather be in the Stryker as opposed to the Humvee which is far more vulnerable to roadside bombs.

Most infantry would rather be on FOOT.

Though if one MUST ride...most infantry would rather be in a BRADLEY.

I have to admit, if I had a choice between tooling around in Baghdad in a Humvee or a Stryker, I'd go with the Stryker.
Imagine if Task Force Ranger had been hauling ass through the Mog in a convoy of Strykers instead of Humvees?
Yes, they arent Bradleys but then a wheeled vehicle is better in a MOUT environment than a tracked vehicle and an armoured wheeled vehicle is better than an unarmored one, IMVHO.
BTW, are those smoke-dischargers I see around that M-2?

The LAV family of vehicles had already faced tanks, RPGs, and AT mines and the armies, including the USMC, that used them came out the winners.

It's the training and the people involved. The M113 family saw fantastic success in Vietnam with American usage but were sitting ducks when used by ARVN.

Let's be clear. USMC LAV-25s killed Iraqi T-72s at the Battle of Al Khafji. So, these ain't POS by any stretch of the imagination.

Are they're better vehicles? Of course there are. However, can these do the job. A most resounding yes.
